I've wanted to be able to participate in this thread for a long time. Finally picked up a 1980 a couple months ago for my son. It needs some work but overall isn't bad.
Here it is when we brought it home.

Pretty sure it has an old 4" Skyjacker lift on it. It rides like a shopping cart on...
This popped up on my FB feed today as a memory. Two years ago today I bought my 80 in Grand Juction, CO. This pic was taken right after we signed the papers.
It's changed a little since then. ;)
For a basic trailer (that can also include some fancy bits if you want them) take a look at Rockbox Offroad Trailers. They are building some really nice stuff that resembles the M416.
Few minor changes happening. Got some new tires. A bit on the aggressive side for "overland" stuff, but I like having a more aggressive tread for more difficult trails. The MTR Kevlars I've had have been my favorite tires. They are tough with awesome grip. Only downside to them is a little...
If you have a Tepui tent, then the Baja series canopy should be able to be used with your existing base. You'd have to remove the originally canopy from the base and insert the "zipper gimp" into the track and then the Baja canopy could be zipped on.
That's pretty normal and it should relax over time, especially in warmer weather. You can try to adjust the canopy in the track around the base. It looks to me like the mounted half of the canopy might have a little slack that could be adjusted toward the cantilevered side, which might relieve...
Most cost effective and reliable is going to be leaf springs. Very little to go wrong with leaf springs. Airbags and fancy trailing arms have some benefits, but a properly built leaf sprung trailer can ride very well. More importantly, the chances of a leaf spring failure are very low...
I replied to your question on this in the Baja Series thread. But for anyone checking this thread, here's the information again.

New pricing for this season going into 2017 had been made known to dealers as several updates were made to most product, i.e. Sky windows being added to all models. Nothing shady intended, just price adjustment to better reflect production costs and market growth.

You can order these in a couple variations. Either with the mesh canopy, or with our Ultralite Nylon Ripstop canopy (available in green...
I haven't checked this thread in a little while, I apologize. Thanks for the compliments and here's some answers to the last couple questions. The brackets for the gas struts were ones I fabricated as part of the lid. The gas struts were sourced from McMasterCarr. Length and pressure of the...
I wrote a detailed review answering that very question in the summer issue of TCT Magazine. (It's a free download). http://tctmagazine.net/summer-2016
But in a nutshell, I've been very pleased with the change. The coils are an improvement in ride and load capacity, but also with traction. The...
