Almost that frequently… about a months back my left front brakes started smoking. They seemed fine the previous day, the rig seemed to be wandering a bit the first trip in the morning. On the second trip it went from wandering, to pulling, and to rip the steering wheel out of your hands if you...
Ford E series front end work definitely sucks… I’d consider a 4WD swap just to get rid of it. An axle swap is almost less work than the stock.
Good luck with that mess.
Ford Taurus have an excellent, high volume, electric fan that can be got for cheap… I mean an excellent value. The Taurus shroud may even be a decent size for your rad.
Alternatively a large diameter 7 blade clutch fan or similar. The fan on a E350 with a 7.3 and A/C is plenty big… although you’d loose 5 mph when it engages.
A shroud is a good first step though.
Another trick I’ve seen is to spray down the rad with water. Taken a step further, a washer pump and nozzles to mist it when it’s getting too hot. It’ll bring the coolant temp down in a hurry. Much like how a swap cooler works :D
As mentioned previously, did you replace the relay that’s on the fender behind the passenger headlight?
There’s also the starter solenoid on the starter… I’ve had the one on the inner fender fail.
That’s disappointing…
Hopefully someone can provide the RIP shock specs and any other upgrades that were a part of it… especially if it’s distributor will no longer sell it.
I’d consider asking for a quote through this link. https://agileoffroad.com/rip-quote/
Although after their last response I don’t know if it’s worth while.
@ujoint can you help this guy with a set of DIY shocks?
Interesting… that one appeared to be leaf sprung, and your’s coil.
I’d like to know more about your coil setup.
If we ever sell our business I’m tossing around the idea of a 4wd conversion and exploring more.
“Factory” was seating for 5 in the back.
I’ve got two captains chairs that rotate about five feet back, and a seat out of a 1980s Ford conversion van across the back. The rear bench has a platform behind it which is perfect to store all the bedding on in the day. Folded flat it’s a Queen size...
I know why… I know I’ve not seen the Safety Seal tools before. I’ve used the ones could buy at the parts jobber. They work ok… and what they lack can be made up for with operator skill. Given I only use them once every few years, I’ve not really looked for better tools. I think it has been 14...
