I couldn’t leave well enough alone today and decided to add some more balance beads to the front wheels. As soon as I split them the large O-rings popped out of their grooves and would not go back in.
I tried cooling them in the freezer to see if they would shrink, but they didn’t enough. I...
Decided to change most the fluids today while hanging out at the farm.
While I’ve put about 5k miles on the truck I don’t know it’s service history so I decided to assume that the diff fluids hadn’t been done recently. Also the oil would be up for a change on our trip so decided I’d hit that...
Ha! Yes...it’s one and the same :-). Yesterday I tripled my total miles on the truck with the camper...drove 200 miles to the in laws. Here for a few days and then the fun really begins :-)
Here is the requisite before pic:
And first stop:
Hope to set up Instagram or something in the next...
It’s a 100 million degrees outside...well...ok...just a 100, but it definitely put a damper on getting everything finished up on the camper so we are planning to head out tomorrow instead. Can’t wait to be in cooler climates :-)

One other question for folks...when I hooked up my propane tanks today the valves leak. I am using the large external threads and it looks like the little gasket thing on the opd valve has dried out. My little bit of research says these aren’t serviceable. Anyone have ideas?

Finished up the cabinets and starting to load up. Took the truck to the scales...14,020 lbs total. That’s without water but with propane and kids. I’m guessing we’ll be 14,500 going down the road. Rear axle was 8360 so front must be just under 6k.
So I’m packing a tool kit...but what items...
Got the plumbing running and some final trim pieces on. Also got the bunk beds in. Getting close but not enough hours in the day to do everything [emoji5]
So after my first ride in the truck I concluded that the subframe mounts I was using allowed way to much movement. I think the problem was that the weight of the camper caused them to compress one side all the way and leave the other side without any preload. This cause the camper to sway and...
Cool! Another shougie! I started with similar goals for my camper. We have two kiddos and wanted the truck to be available for use whilst not traveling and to be able to offload and move around a bit while traveling. I ended up having to settle on just coming off at the end of trips...my box got...

I think I'll be legal once I put the rear marker lights back on. I suppose they could not like that my front markers are on the cab roof instead of the camper roof...
Good idea. Do you know if they apply to RV's as well? I have red marker lights for the rear that I'm putting on and the cab has lights on the roof...but I may well need more...
Took the maiden voyage to the local burger joint tonight! Had my wife follow me to see how jiggly it looked going down the road...she said the only thing she noticed was all the wires hanging down [emoji849]. Still need to tuck those up but waiting for the battery isolator wiring to do it all at...
Got the batteries and inverter wires up and tied into the original camper wiring. Next on that front is learning about how to connect the camper electrical system to the trucks for charging. Would love to put on a dual alternator but just don’t have the time before the trip :-(.
I also put on...
