    Jeep Hybrid Conversion

Thanks for the link to the WranglerForum build. It's good to know the setup actually exists. Post 154 has an explanation of what's going on. Then posts 253 and 254 are a little contradictory about how it functions in 4x4. (On a side note Metcalf, they mention in post 54that a company called...

Why the Jeep Wrangler is the new Defender.

The article neglected to mention the need for a Diesel JKU. I honestly think with a solid diesel, the JKU would clearly be the best overland choice in a North American vehicle. -Dan

    Rubicon Unlimited vs Unlimited Sport

I found the thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/69011-Ordering-a-Jeep it's in the first few replies. The one being discussed was a 2012 JKU -Dan

    Rubicon Unlimited vs Unlimited Sport

You can still custom order a Rubicon 4-door without any of that stuff. A while back someone posted here confirming they had done it with a 2012 saying "The dealer was amazed to see a Rubicon so cheap" -Dan

Ways to Increase the Jeep JK Payload

I agree with your sentiment 100%. I drove Alaska to Argentina with little more than 1 small tool box, 1 small box of spares and a bag of clothes. However, my next journey will be significantly further and through countries that have less in the way of spares available. I'll be doing absolutely...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

It seems like Ultra Low Sulfur diesel is going to be a problem in all developing and undeveloped countries for a while yet. I personally think the advantages of diesel in general outweigh the annoyance of the (required) emissions delete package. I'm looking ahead to Euro VI, coming in 2014...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

I think it's worth noting the 2.8 and the new 3.0 are extremely different engines. The 2.8 is old and out-dated in comparison. The 2.8 would require a massive amount of work to meet the upcoming 2013 emissions in North America. As you point out, the 3.0 already passes.... and it's coming in the...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

Thanks for the info. I have no interest in driving this truck in places where it would be illegal, so that is of no concern to me. -Dan

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

Nice. I was wondering if there would be horrible build-up on the injectors or anywhere else critical? I figure I would run a very high grade diesel filter anyway when in 3rd world countries, so that would help with the "contaminants" side of things. Thanks for the info... (sorry for the thread...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

That's exactly what I was thinking about. I'd like to "trick" the computer however possible to let me run low quality diesel. I wonder if that will have any longevity impact on the engine itself, or if the only consequence will be nasty emissions. I'll cross that bridge when the diesel becomes...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

I will be extremely surprised if AEV don't at least attempt the conversion once it's out in the GC to determine the feasibility. (like they did with the Liberty diesel) -Dan

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

I'd like to re-iterate and make this very clear: The 3.0 VM / Motori Diesel has passed US Emissions testing. It's coming to the North American Grand Cherokee in 2013, so there is absolutely nothing stopping it going into the Wrangler. In the GC, it gets 28MPG combined, while making 237hp and...

    If Jeep offered more choices.....

Diesel. The 3.0 coming to the 2013 GC would be great, although I really don't know if everyone needs 550 ft. lbs. of torque. Maybe it's possible to use a 2.4 or 2.2 to get even better mileage. If they offered a diesel, I would buy tomorrow. 2,666 people have signed at...

Forward Control Jeep (FC)-Scott Brady's Test Drive- A Great Read!!

It's easy to say that... but what do you think the price tag would be? I think as it sits it must be $65k ++ I suppose if they toned it down to regular JK Axles, 35s etc it could come in around $40k. -Dan
