    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

I’ve defended the new Defender, but IMO cancelling the pickup version is a huge mistake, and building the 130 with the same wheelbase as the 110 is an even bigger one. A 130” wheelbase is ideal to me for an all around rig. I had a Suburban with the same wheelbase, despite being 900 lbs lighter...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Not with the new 2.0, but the Jag 4.4L that’s been in the majority of the 06-09 Range Rovers and LR3’s has almost identical hp/tq specs. The twin turbo will deal with high alititudes better, has 2 more gears, and the vehicle is 900 lbs lighter. Land Rover just doesn’t seem to come up with...

Need some schooling on 2010ish Land Rover Range Rover HSE

From my experience, the 07+ Range Rovers and LR3’s are thousands of times more reliable than the D1’s, D2’s, and P38’s. My D1’s were always pretty solid mechanically, but tended to have almost monthly small electrical issues, which were mostly annoying. D2’s and P38’s will have those as well...

Need some schooling on 2010ish Land Rover Range Rover HSE

He’s just a troll, look at the Defender thread. My wife’s 08 RRSC has 145k on it, we’ve done tires, brakes, oil changes, a battery, (all standard vehicle stuff obviously), one air strut, and it needs lower control arm bushings. The TPMS also acts up sometimes, I’m just going to turn it off...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Can’t please everyone is what they say. Bunch of people wanted a stripped down version at a decent price, which they have, someone else says it’s too expensive once you add all the bells and whistles. It’s not a real Defender, then it’s not powerful enough with 300 hp. Most “real defenders”...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

As a long time Land Rover owner and fan that’s lusted for a Defender but never owned one, I like the new one. This is primarily because it solves the issue of “If I had to buy a new car, what would it be?” This has been troubling because there have been literally zero options, which is scary. I...

The quest for the perfect family (5 of us) overlanding/camping setup....

A 6x12 cargo trailer ticks most of the boxes if you’ve got a place to store it and fuel mileage isn’t a major concern. Mine is primarily used for my construction business, so the camping stuff is modular, but it would be easy to build out with permanent beds instead. You can fit a queen mattress...

Well, this is interesting...Ford Trucks Gas Mileage Lawsuit

Stupid indeed. How hard would it be to take 10 trucks to a city with ideal conditions (sea level, flat, relatively cool), after morning rush hour and tell everyone “drive around for an hour, try not to mash the throttle.” Throw out the highest and lowest, average the others, that’s your “up to...

Jeep plunges 450 feet off Colorado mountainside

That’s not a bad idea at all, but I get the idea that a lot of these areas are more or less public/forest roads, not dedicated 4x4 trails. I can assume that would also limit the ability to do any maintenance on it, and it would degrade into a hardcore route.

Jeep plunges 450 feet off Colorado mountainside

I personally don’t care if others want to endanger themselves, I do it frequently by many definitions, but it becomes a problem when it results in areas being shut down to everyone due to ignorance/abuse. That’s all the government is going to do, say “this is a problem area, close it off.”...

Suitable trailer for small travel trailer build

I’ll be the dissenting voice about the cheap trailer kits. I bought one of the 1195 lb folding trailers from Harbor Freight roughly 10 years ago now, it is still going strong with zero problems. I used it at least several times every week up until 2 years ago for my motorcycle and carpentry...

Jeep plunges 450 feet off Colorado mountainside

I’m not typically in favor of government regulation, and would rather them just put a sign up making the risks clear (if it’s not already), but people continue to get stupider it seems. Colorado already has an OHV registration program, as do may states. The permit only costs $25, so it’s not a...

    LR4 fridge placement

Swing outs are a huge PITA to me. Undo latch, swing open, pin locks in, open lift gate, drop tailgate, repeat. Probably the biggest reason I went with a tire size that could be squeezed into the stock location, though the 250 mike fuel range makes some type of extra fuel capacity almost a...

    LR4 fridge placement

That’s important to me also. Apparently the Front Runner drawer system has access to the spare tire winch with everything in place. I assume this is still the case with a fridge slide on one half of it.

    LR4 fridge placement

I like the idea of the base plate setup, what material is the Goose Gear one made of? It looks like their boxes are all plywood but I assume the base plate is some type of HDPE or aluminum for $345.

Life With A Supercharged RRS For an Overland Rig

Bummer. From light reading the 5.0 SC seems to have more issues than the 4.2 SC in my wife’s car, we’ve done nothing to it. Here’s a link, you can check the coupling by pulling the belt and seeing if there is play in the pulley...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

The problem is, everyone in NA thinks they want a Defender, but if they actually brought the old version here it would fly off the shelves and then they would be resold within 6 months. Unfortunately, people care about features and gimmicks more than they care about function these days. I have...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Land Rover clearly has no issue exploiting the prestige of their model names. It used to be that the Range Rover badge meant something, now almost every model they make is a “Range Rover.” Same with the Discovery, the Disco Sport is basically a Ford Escape. I’d be curious to see the numbers of...

Help me Pick Lift and Tires

I’m not sure skipping the load range E tires is great advice for off road use. Yes, you don’t really need the weight capacity but the tougher sidewalls are a massive benefit IMO. I noticed my car had slightly better small bump compliance with the E range KO2’s at a variety of pressures than with...

    LR3 Differential Backlash?

Useenone on here seems to be the LR diff expert. Do you mean that there are no shims in either side of the carrier bearings? If so, the only backlash adjustment would be pinion depth via shim. Obviously this would change the gear contact pattern also, but should still be able to be done within...
