Sorry - no pics yet...
After a few days of heavy rain, the skies cleared in time for us to head out to the much-anticipated Mojave Road. Jon (jdholder) and Ken (fj viz) met at my house and we caravanned out to Barstow where we met up with Yubert and Justin (rigwelderstaco) and drove to Needles...
Or try one of these. Pricely, but very warm and comfy.

I'm curious - how do these compare to the prolite 4 foam filled thermarest when sleeping on the snow?
FYI - an airbed doesn't count much for "off the ground" in cold weather becuse the air in the mattress will equalize to the ambient air temp and any insulation that's under you will be compressed by your body weight. So, if it's 25* out you're sleeping on 25* with no insulation. You will be...
In order to stay warm, here's are the methods in order of importance:
Quality bag - temp ratings from brands such as Marmot and Western Mountaineering are comfort ratings. From most other brands they are survival ratings. It must be the right length as well.
Sleeping pad - this is almost as...
Probably one of the best things about this concept (and the most out of the box thinking) is having the hard top go OVER everything - security for the contents would be great. I think some windows in the shell would be awesome as they would access nothing when the top is down, but give great...
Are wheel spacers just discs with the lug bolt hole pattern than sit between the wheel and the hub? Do you have to get longer lug bolts? How much do such spacers cost?
So basically, I only have 2.5" of lift at this time. That explains why the 315 BFGs rub the tire well relatively frequently. I always thought I had 3.5" of lift. This means that I can afford to go up another inch without major driveline issues.
Next question, if I put the 419s in the front and...
Now $20 is something I can handle. That sounds like a great suggestion. That means I can probably sell the 421s from the rear and get 422s for a nominal cost increase as well.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the driveline issues. I have no caster correction or any other changes besides the yellow caster bushings. If I went with the 419 in the front, I think I'd gain an inch over the 850J, correct? With that extra inch, I think I'm now into the territory of needing to make...
I hadn't considering changing front springs primarily for budget reasons - wife already thinks I spend waaaay too much on this rig.
Would it make sense to buy 422s for the rear and brings the 421s to the front? I don't want to go taller than the 850Js in the front for caster and driveline...
Thanks Cruiseroutfit. I don't want to bring anything up past the 22.5" because I already sit as tall as I need, I'm sometimes nervous about my high COG, and I don'twant to risk any drive train issues. So, I don't need any adjustments in the front. By the way, the front weight is ARB bumper...

I have 850Js in the front and 421s in the rear. Front sits at 22.5 hub to fender. Rear sits at the same when unloaded - weight of Kaymar rear, Maggiolina RTT, and 35" spare included. I'm happy with that amount of lift.
Since the truck is not a daily driver and I hate...
Now that The North Face has been bought and sold and is no longer owned by mountaineering guys, the quality fo the clothing is junk. They still make some decent dedicated mountaineering equipment and you could argue that their Summit line is OK, but moslty I'd stay away from them if you do the...
My wife and I climb and are always looking to meet new people. We'll be heading to Josh this winter of course. Next year we'll lead a trip to Canyon Tajo in Baja which is great for camping and climbing - the Josh of Baja.
I'll keep eyes on this for some trips.
Actually, a trip around the...
If you have an addiction to cool gadgets like most of us, Scangauge II will read voltage in real time so you could monitor that way. It's a really cool toy for a number of reasons.
I'm glad to see this thread as I am planning to buy the 2 zone 12v pad mentioned here. To me it seems logical - we sleep with sheets and a down comforter so heating from underenath makes a lot of sense. @ zones is brilliant cause my wife is always colder than I am.
