Cross Country on a Sport Bike

I took an Aprilia Mille cross country. I think it took 2-3 months, roughly 500 mile days. The one rule for the trip was no highways. I got nervous about gas a few times, but never ran out. I think I was running Metzelers of some sort at the time, nothing unusual. Keep tools to adjust your chain...

After having run both sizes on a 2002 4Runner, I am comfortable in saying that you wont notice a mileage difference between the two.

Absolutely. I love the Lumix cameras. I have no experience with the GF2 model, but I am sure it will be fantastic.

Expeditions West: Moving Back to Canon

I'm surprised it took this long. While I'm sure the Olympus gear is good stuff, I can't imagine it being in the same category as the Canon gear you are looking into upgrading to. It seems odd to me that anyone who needs to take pictures in a professional type setting would use anything other...

    2wd Expidetion Vehicle

With all the money you could spend modifying it and not coming close to 4wd performance, it seems reasonable that you could do a 4wd swap with relatively little hassle.

    Quick Question on Disco 1

I'm not aware of any offerings of a continuous foot design and I'm not sure it is necessary. A lot of the gutter mount racks have rated weight capacities of 600+lbs. This should be enough of a limit for 99% of people, even with a roof top tent. The gutter mount racks are a "tried and true"...

    CV Axle Suggestion

I wouldn't (and didn't) hesitate to put an aftermarket axle in. Some of them come with lifetime warranties. It really isn't that hard of a job. Undo the lower ball joint bolts (14mm), undo the axle nut (I thought it was 32mm, but I could be wrong), and pull the axle out. The new one pops in...

    Hydraulic clutch in the winter.

My mistake. You re correct. It is 5.1 that is compatible. The viscosity number still stands, per the standard. Depending on brand, you can most likely find some that are lower viscosity than others. A lot of sportbikes use 5.1, and it can be expensive.

    Hydraulic clutch in the winter.

    Each DOT regulation has its own standards. DOT 3 = 1500 Centistokes @ -40° F DOT 4 = 1800 Centistokes @ -40° F DOT 5 = 900 Centistokes @ -40° F. DOT 5 is supposed to be able to mix with DOT 3 and 4 fluids. With a 40% decrease in vicosity, there is a chance that it could make a significant...

Scuba Tank for On Board air... stupid qestion?

Scuba tanks are 3000 psi. You can get them rated higher, but 3k is most common. Unregulated Co2 is around 800 psi. Co2 is stored as a liquid, and expands to a gas. You can hold more Co2 in a given space than you can air. A container filled with Co2 will give roughly the same volume expanded...

Olympus: Expeditions West makes the jump

Im curious as to what your reasoning was for determining that you needed a camera with 10+MP. Its been my experience, for the past few years, that an 8MP camera is more than enough to produce fantastic, full page spread photos. Truthfully, your magazine is of much higher print quality than...
