    Out of state $$

I've bought and sold several vehicles that required shipping. Most were sold without an in-person inspection. I could really write a book on this sort of thing, but Ill try to keep it short. Any questions, feel free to PM me. Usually in a situation like this you end up talking to the person...

    Dorm fridge in a vehicle?

Your inverter will provide a constant voltage to the fridge regardless of input voltage (as long as it is above the cutoff). Even if it didn't, your compressor should also have a thermal overload built in that will trip before any damage occurs.

    Dorm fridge in a vehicle?

My inverter pulls milliamps at no load and I assume most are built this way. Mine also turns the fan on as necessary. The manual lists it as pulling under 500ma, but in my testing, it pulled 20-50ma. To me, this is low enough to never be a concern. Other than that, input=output/efficiency. A...

    Dorm fridge in a vehicle?

I had the same thoughts, so I did some testing. I have THIS battery. THIS fridge. and THIS inverter. The battery is a starting battery and is rated in reserve capacity, not amp hours. It isn't an expensive battery by any means. I think I paid $60 for it. The fridge is also nothing special. I...

    purchasing a plasma cutter (HELP)

I bought a Longevity unit a couple of years ago and it works great. I really can't comment on customer service since I have never had to call. A friend of mine just bought a longevity as well and he is very happy with it. If I had to do it over again I would make the same decision.

What fabric for pop-top roof sides?

I decided to run with a coated Cordura 1000D. I will post back and let everyone know how it worked out. I sampled a ton of fabrics under my faucet, and I think the Cordura is the best compromise for my situation.

    BAP winch Mount

I have a buddy that has that mount on his D1. Ill let him speak for how much he likes it, but it is a good looking piece of hardware. You can see photos of it here: http://forums.exploringnh.com/showpost.php?p=179083&postcount=83 There are more photos in that thread, but that is a direct link...

    upgrades to my Toyhauler

I just ordered a set of 36" gas springs/struts from This seller on Ebay. Shipping was fast, price was better than I found anywhere else, and they seem like decent quality units. No reports on longevity yet.

What fabric for pop-top roof sides?

Thanks for the response. I have not heard of that material and will look into it. Since this post, I've found that many of the chinese made roof top tents are made with 420D. A lot of people are happy with the construction, but I would think that 420D would be the bottom end of acceptability...

What fabric for pop-top roof sides?

I've been looking into different fabrics to use for a pop-top roof and wanted to see what other people are using. Pop-top like this: Breath-ability and water resistance are, I think, the two biggest factors. It seems that Cordura 330D is pretty popular. I was thinking of going with Cordura...

A few people have asked about the backspacing. I measured today and they are 5.5" backspacing.

Land Rover DI SD roofrack, (5) 15" steel wheels

They have 272309 stamped on them. You can see the location in the first picture. They are not 5.5" wide though, as the part number would suggest.

Land Rover DI SD roofrack, (5) 15" steel wheels

I have a roofrack in mint condition off of a Discovery I. Has 4 tabs to mount lights in the front and one in the back for a work light. Looks pretty much brand new. I do not have the mounting brackets for this. Safety Devices has them on backorder, and they will be available in 3-4 weeks. The...

Cross Country on a Sport Bike

I did about 50/50 camping/motels. Most places I just wheeled my bike into the room with me. When that wasn't an option, I tried to keep it close and make it hard to get to. A comfortable mattress is hard to beat after a long day on a bike.
