I bought a Longevity unit a couple of years ago and it works great. I really can't comment on customer service since I have never had to call. A friend of mine just bought a longevity as well and he is very happy with it. If I had to do it over again I would make the same decision.

I decided to run with a coated Cordura 1000D. I will post back and let everyone know how it worked out. I sampled a ton of fabrics under my faucet, and I think the Cordura is the best compromise for my situation.

I just ordered a set of 36" gas springs/struts from This seller on Ebay. Shipping was fast, price was better than I found anywhere else, and they seem like decent quality units. No reports on longevity yet.

A few people have asked about the backspacing. I measured today and they are 5.5" backspacing.

They have 272309 stamped on them. You can see the location in the first picture. They are not 5.5" wide though, as the part number would suggest.
