I think you'd be fine with a palomino or a used northstar. The build quality on the palomino has supposedly improved in the past few years. I dont know if it would last 10 years of hard use, but anything can last with enough repair time/money.
I actually like the grill better than the current "giant bar" grill design. Every time I look at f150's, I lose interest at anything newer at anything newer than 2017.
I'm guessing maybe the bed is a test mule bed, and might actually be an old style?
I'd be interested to hear which unit you end up going to, as my buddies and I mostly use frs band, which I believe gmrs radios cover, but I'm also interested in ham. We've had terrible luck with CB range in the Virginia mountains.
Great job so far, it looks like you're building something similar to what I have in mind. I was thinking about making each panel like a torsion box, which would add a lot of rigidity to each panel.
I'm impressed that your puzzle pieces fit together; any time I try to make box joints by hand...
