From the mfg. tech doc I've read the best close cell foam is 95% close cell.
Trimming the skin off reduces the number of closed cells.
Differential in heat will draw the moisture through the foam.
A hole in a location subject to standing/running water will have a different result.
In home...
Wouldn't be too hard to cut (hot wire) a shape to fill the void. It comes down to how extreme the (60 degree North in winter) temperatures are.
I've seen sprayed/blown/expanded foam absorb water but I've not seen extruded foam ( buried outside a concrete foundation) absorb water.
Sealing the...
Any thoughts on filling the voids in the FRP extrusion with insulation?
What about sealing the perimeter of the panel to prevent water absorption?
Can the panels be made with extruded foam?
Years ago I used anti-seize on aluminum but I'd find that shortly things would be seized together....... at some point I was told the copper/zinc in it increases corrosion between aluminum and steel.
I was discussing what we are doing to for camping this year with a freind. We came to the conclusion that with all the campsites (along with the dump stations) with toilets being closed and more people switching (who don't want to get in a plane or stay in a hotel) to traveling forestry roads...
While camping/hiking/trail clearing the most I ever had was some small blisters/scrapes/cuts. While working at home in the last 2 weeks I've got a 2" cut on my neck from a branch and stepped a 3" nail. I may have to go camping (not stops along the way) so I'm don't hurt myself more.;)
Synthetic insulation picks up BO more than down. Down is easy to wash (never in a dryer) but these days I rarely (last time I did was 3-4 years ago) do because I hang the sleeping bag up inside or outside in the sun.
Don't matter if down or synthetic gets wet (at -30C?) who's going to sleep in...
The point of the probe is poked (don't drive it into your hand) into/through the insulation. If you want self sealing tape or sheat shrink will cover the hole.
Start with using the same device to measure the voltage.
I've poked the probe of the voltmeter thru the insulation of the wire but there must be a way to access the connections in the fridge.
Use a clamp-on amp meter to measure the amperare and determine the fridge isn't drawing too much...
Wow! 10,000lb carring capacity + lots of fuel.
I'd expect 118gal FW will be plenty for 2 people. We have 180gal FW and with 4 people not conserving (flush tiolet and showers) water we go through 100gal in 2 weeks. We are set up so our waste tanks (2x120g) are larger than our FW. This was done...
Very nice!
I'd be worried about branches taking out the sat dish.
Any idea what the GRW will be and what the GVWR is.
Tank capacities?
Will you add storage outboard of the truck frame?
It looks like you were fusing (no filler metal) the 6061. If so it's a good way to get cracked welds.
Kick back when cutting aluminum is like getting weld flash. It's not appreciated until it happens. Just hope no one gets hurt when it happens. Clamp one side and make sure to stand on the side...
Any blade that will cut wood will cut alum. For years I used cheap bi metal blades that we'd throw out when dull. Now that carbide has taken over the market it is better to use (for alum.) a negative rake blade on a circular/chop saw that has a heavy backing for the carbide tooth...
Is the alum. 5052 or 5086?
Did you look at having the sides/roof formed to reduce the welding?

**I've been cutting aluminum for years. It's similar to playing with a loaded gun. Not if but when the material will shift...
It's not the sides walls that need to be look at but the plastic (lumber wrap) covering the bottom of the wood floor. He discoverd that the ends of the wood 2x3 in the floor were wet.
He also had 8' of the black cloroplast covering the bottom fall down because it sagged and filled with water...
My buddy just discovered that water has been getting up inside plastic wrap (outside of the frame......between the frame and side wall) on both sides at the bottom corners of the front cap....might be something your dad wants to check.
