To be honest, I have not researched aftermarket units. That being said, of all the reading I have done aftermarket units were never discussed (Aussie forums). Another thing to remember is that in Australia the laws governing vehicle modifications are strict and do vary from state to state...
I have not brought in a vehicle but I can say that the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service are very proficient at their job and take biosecurity very seriously. How far are you taking the cleaning with respect to vehicle strip down?
Happy trails.

Lower control arm strengthening
Here is the final product:
I can travel without concern for the lower control arms now. :sombrero:
There are a few other items to be addressed before an arduous trip to Cape York but that will be the next instalment.
Addressing the weaknesses of the 100 for serious off road travel.
For those who don't know, the 100 series has two major areas that need to be addressed prior to serious off road use especially on the Australian Outback corrugations :safari-rig:
The front differential
The front lower control...
Yes Black was a compromise however the drivetrain was spot on and the aftermarket accessories were tasteful so it got the nod. As for returning to NA that will all depend on return date...

A bit out of sequence given the updates to the cruiser but I'll start with some fun stuff.
Can anyone guess where this photos was taken?
Hint in second photo...
Christian,
All these engines are great in their own respect. If you are going to be in less developed countries where fuel quality and spare parts availability is questionable, I would favour 1HZ for pure simplicity and durability however the 1HD-T would be hard to go past. These engines are...
Manar Park - Proston Queensland Australia
What do you do when you need a bit of a 4WD fix? Well you head out to a local off road park to test out your new vehicle. With that in mind, we left on a Thursday morning and pointed the cruiser with trailer in tow due south for a bit of 4WD fun. We...
Final update for today...
I wanted a solid mounting location for the sand flag and I don't like them on the bull bar (personal choice) so I came up with this little idea. The rear wheel carrier comes drilled and tapped for mounting accessories such as HF antennas, camp light mounts, shovel or...
Good idea. I'll be inspecting these after our Cape York trip and may consider having them serviced at that point.
Bingo!
One of the forum members on LCOOL.org here in Victoria Australia used to work for Safari Power and was the brains behind the development of these intercoolers. He no...
Catching up on maintenance
It's been a very busy 6 months due to work commitments, visitors from abroad and a bit of fun time in between. The cruiser has been performing very well and has done everything asked of it. Towing with this vehicle is a dream by comparison to the 1HZ 80 however, I...
Scott,
I'm very happy to hear you are enjoying our Eastern Canada experience. I've only spent limited time in Newfoundland but it's a top spot. You do realise that no trip to Saint John's is complete without a visit to George Street - famous for all the pubs. Of particular interest are...
Just reading up on this post. Great to read about other fellow Canadians and their travels. Sorry to hear about the accident but metal and plastic can be purchased, life and limb can't. Keep working towards your goal.
Cheers,
P
