    Dream Truck

For the Dempster Hwy in Alaska I gotta admit, among others, I'd could see a spot in my "Dream Barn" for this. Complete with .75" lift kit. Fun little article in Car and Driver. And, of course, if I'm dreaming, then its a Z06...

    Entry-level kayak? Good value?

I agree Even when I was racing well, I still didn't have the metabolic rate to burn fat. I could paddle 20 miles in a day, but still couldn't hang with the guys (or half the girls!) on a mountain bike climb. While you need to be fit for white water slalom, or kayak surfing, etc, it in...

    Your Bikes

Incase there is anyone on the planet that doesn't know what a Kona Stinky Deluxe and Kona Dawg Primo are. And the old Miyata (hanging on the wall in previous post) is great for a shuttle bike; drop the boats at the river put-in, drive Astro van to the take-out and leave it there with cooler...

SUV pop top manufacturers in US & Canada

The only ones I know of are for Astro vans. Both in Canada. This one in Quebec. http://www.parnado.com/serie_s/sx/indexeng.html There is also one in Vancouver, but seem to only use GTRV as the sales rep, based out of Northern California. His email: Michael Reed <gtrv@sbcglobal.net> The...

Taking a midweek break Got 'er locked and loaded for a Thursday Hookey Run. Headin' up the mountain just beneath the snow line for a downhill run in the morning, then a class III-IV piddle in the afternoon. The Astro seems happy with it's new role.

    2005 Chevy Colorado Build Up

Excellent post Excellent post. I have just read your entire years worth of fun with the truck, and may I say you've done a great job. Its the best looking Colorado I've seen. The H wheels look better on your rig than on the H. I just bought my rig two months ago so your thread is hepful...

Thanks for the compliments, and I had a lot of help from the peeps on the astro forum I linked above. There are a lot of talented and knowlegable van owners on that site and very generous with their expertise and guidance. Dan @ Overlandvans was very helpful and great to work with on the lift...

Thanks for the warm reception. Nice link, thanks. The Safari Condo Astro conversion with the pop top is actually out of Quebec. Skroll down this link to check out the interior. As cool as I think it is, the pragmatist in me knows I don't need that interior and would not use the inside...

I've met his Sportsmobile A sign of the times. I haven't met Brian, but he parks his Sportsmobile infront of my shop (we work right next door to each other and his rig is a total distraction!) and I've seen him linked on Badgertrek.com, his posts here, as well as his own work on his Railbat...

    First time back from Kayaking

Agree'd I agree. I always bring my own paddle when going to demo a new boat. The paddle is essentially the "tires" of the kayak. Very important. There are places to skimp and places not to skimp; don't skimp on the paddle or the spare paddle.

    have you guys seen this?

Ya flushed me out Hello, short time lurker, first time poster here. Since last spring I've been on a quest for the ultimate mountain bike/kayak shuttle rig, that can poach some river camping off the fire roads, and get me in and out of the river access points. Came up with the idea of...
