    Cummins B3.3 Powered FJ60

Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine... ;) Yeah, thanks for the details and that's what I figured since I'm a resident of an emissions inspection county. I think the only way to comply with that would be to stick with the 1KZ or 1KD, but this engine seems to have a lot of potential. So you...

    snorkel position

For the sleeve I'd check a plumbing supply store or the big box HW stores, split it, install the pre-cleaner, and secure the tube clamp. That seems to me to be the most secure way of mounting it. Unfortunately I don't have a specific PN for the sleeve; that will take some reconnaissance on...

    snorkel position

Does post #20 of this thread offer any guidance? This doesn't seem too difficult... am I missing something? Why would glue even be necessary? Wouldn't the worm-drive tube clamp offer enough torque to clamp down the pre-filter and sleeve? Maybe a bolt-drive tube clamp for even more force...

    trasharoo improvement/changes thread

Scion of the Trasharoo Empire or Dave, While you consider modifications for the next batches, task your research and development engineer division with the following recommendations and observations. 1. perhaps a beefier YKK zipper than the current fine tooth zipper on the flap pouch. Over...

    Am I crazy here?

Oooo, that would make the smile quotient go way high, wouldn't it? Problem with that engine is it's just too big to squeeze into the engine compartment of a 1st gen with my dual batteries, aux fuse block, air compressor, etc. But why the infatuation? Because I can. The 1KD and 1KZ have been...

Not for USA: New Ford Ranger

Could be the new BOTT! But seriously, I don't get the whining about its looks... it looks like a Hilux.

    Am I crazy here?

Seek Counseling Immediately! Why yes, you are crazy... ask me how I know. As a point of reference see my report on performing a SAC with dual radius arms, much like the setup found on an 80 series Land Cruiser. It documents one example of the mania you describe...

Project Alpha Bound - 1985 4Runner Adventure Truck Build

See post #92 for my definitive opinion... ROFL! I wish I had a nickle every time I said that... with all that money I'd be filling my 2001 Tacoma fuel tank with ULSD to power my transplanted 1KD D4D!

    Cummins B3.3 Powered FJ60

Pardon the hijack but this gives cause to ponder the possibilities for a Toyota that doesn't lead with "FJ." I wonder how an ECU controlled B3.3 might do in a 2001 Tacoma as a replacement for the 3RZ FE? Care to speculate Grease Cruiser? A 1KZ and 1 KD does work but then there's the concern...

    100,000 miles

I may have to get a job... not that there are any out there right now. Going to the VT Overland Rally near Bennington, VT which is when the Yankee Toys event is. The weekend after that I'll be at the BBRC Fall Crawl in Tretorn, PA.

Project Alpha Bound - 1985 4Runner Adventure Truck Build

I disagree with changing gears from 4.10 to 4.56; just won't be worth it. And you really have to be careful about using that on-line gear chart. It serves as a guide but is not based on our Toyota trucks, engines, or transmission types. I nearly made the mistake of going 4.56 to 4.88 and I'm...

Evoque: I have seen the future of Land Rover ...

I hope you're right Scott. As a distant observer, it seems that as the Jeep brand was absorbed into Chrysler, this legacy vehicle has become increasingly diluted while new models, less-capable people movers more oriented to urban trails, are introduced. If this trend continues what will the...

    Very Built 2001 Toyota Tundra

Wow - I can't believe that this truck hasn't sold yet. I can tell you from having seen it on the trail this is a meticulously maintained, well-thought out build, skillfully crafted, that goes anywhere. I wish I had the cash... just to look at it in the garage would give me a rush.

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

The whole CT4WD crew were great hosts... one of the best times I've ever had wheeling and camping, er, I mean overlanding. Very accommodating and gracious one and all; even the most skilled to the novice wheeler. You won't find a group more conscious and respectful of their environment either...

    100,000 miles

No problem, anytime. Well, not next week - I'll be going to the VT Overland Rally. Oh, and not the weekend after that either... I'll be in Burlington that week and then going to the Fall Crawl in PA for that following weekend. How about the weekend after that? Retirement is sooo boring.
