    Snow Peak Addiction

FWIW Snow Peak has added to their double wall vessel collection offering. I just received a pair of H450/TW-122 and a pair of nesting H200/TW-124 double wall ti handle-less cups for my cappuccino and espresso, respectively, affliction. They work great!

    iPad vs. other tablet discussion?

:clapsmile A real touch screen with SL or equiv OS in the iPad form factor would be golden! I've found for my off-road nav'ing needs, as well as other more typical computer functions, the iPad is more toy than work tool. Not saying it doesn't have a place but...

    Snow Peak BBQ Box

Ball head mounted atop a tripod. Mating dovetail mount bolted to the bottom of the Snow Peak BBQ. Works great. You can find ball head systems for less than $100 (Fotopro, etc.)...

    Snow Peak BBQ Box

Yep. I had everything anyway...so it was "just" another $50 for the dovetail and a couple bolts :). One of a couple non-camera uses that extend the 'value' of my tripod.

    Snow Peak BBQ Box

While on the subject of the Snow Peak BBQ: If any of you also travel with a tripod it makes a super stand for the Snow Peak adding flexibility and saving typical table space.

What Is The Best Topo Map App For iPad

I have several topo "off-road" map apps on my iPad, including MotionX HD. All of them are very "light" relative to my needs for off-road nav'ing. The biggest issue with all of them...without exception...is the shear amount of time it takes to download hi res map tiles. Its not unusual, on a...

Fit of autohome Columbus and Maggolina RTT for someone 6'1"?

5'10" and size 10.5's :coffeedrink: here...I owned a Maggiolina Grand Tour for a couple years. The GT has IIRC about 3" more height over the rear half. I'm a back and side sleeper...it was most comfortable for me when it was just me and I could sleep diagonally. Otherwise the new AirTop...

    Shooter trash

"Respect" seems to be the missing ingredient for all those folks that let their 'spents' lie. For whatever reason I have noticed, the last couple years, significantly fewer spent shotgun hulls out on the hunting hills/mountain! It certainly appears most of the Northern Nevada bird hunters have...

eeezi awn globetrotter tent matttress upgrade

The memory foam works great as long as your tent temp is above about 60-degrees F or so (the warmer the better). We tried one in our Autohome Overland a bunch of years ago atop Coyote Flats...it turned brick hard when the mercury dropped into the 20's. One of the most unpleasant nights I've...

    Cast Iron Pans

One of the great things about cast iron cookware is the relative easy cleanup process once you get it seasoned properly (and maintain it with proper care). What gets deposited onto the pan surface from the cooking process is, of course, dependent upon what has been cooked, the type of cooking...

    Cast Iron Pans

30-years ago, give or take :), I was shown a (then) unique way to season steel and cast iron pans by a chef. Take regular salt and put enough in the pan to coat about 1/8", or a little more, deep. Then take whatever cheap veggie oil you have and add it to the pan covering the salt by an 1/8"...

    Bacon

Just made my first batch of smoked bacon from an incredibly good slab of belly. But to tell you the truth I actually prefer the raw fresh belly sliced about 3/8" thick...sprinkle sea salt and smoked paprika on both sides and slowly render it in a cast iron pan until nicely caramelized...to any...

    Aftermarket CV Axle Shafts

Nothing unusual as far as off-road challenges. The units I tried were new (2-years ago) NAPA units not reman. Maybe they utilize different mfgs for their CVs...in fact that is highly likely. The ones I have don't have the OEM tulip and ball type joints but three large flat 'bearings' and they...

    Aftermarket CV Axle Shafts

The NAPA units are junk. They are not based on the OEM style Toyota CV joint...mine blew up in less than a month on my 100. Save yourself the agony and go with Toyota OEM IMO.

Winch solenoid relocation - let's see yours

I fabbed a simple "L" shaped bracket to attach the Warn solenoid from my 9.5XP to the upper fender of my '99LC. It has worked out just perfect. I added Slee's remote control/in cab circuitry along with a OEM Toyota antenna switch (momentary 2-way switch) for in-cab operation of the winch...

Dash Rattles - How to Cure?

Another material I use for the same purpose: 2-4mm neoprene. We have a bulk fabric store here that always has it at a reasonable price. Zip tie it around wires/wire bundles, components, etc.

    Lets see the Expo Cruisers!

I need to get busy on fabbing the bracket for the blender attachment that works via my OBA. We had to settle for regular ice'd espresso drinks on the mountain last summer...oh the shame :coffeedrink:. Blended iced espresso drinks coming in '11!

Best deal on synthetic winch rope???

I'm fairly certain your M8000 shares the same drum as my 9.5XP; they both come with 100' x 5/16" wire rope (actually the M8000 can also come with 80' x 5/16"). I am running the MP Superline XD in 3/8" x 80' and it just fits. If you're sloppy with rewinding the rope it might rub on the drum...

Best deal on synthetic winch rope???

FWIW I had one of the Self Locking Safety Hooks hook freeze up (corrode would be a more appropriate word) after only one season being on my winch/bumper. I drilled the rivet hinge pin out and replaced with a Grd8 fine thread bolt with locking type nut (not a nylock though) so I could adjust...
