Okay, being at 58v makes a huge difference. Also reading in the article they are running a secondary, auxiliary alternator is a big difference. You're not relying on the stock 12v system to do any of the house power.
9000w at 58v = 160 amp of charging, which wiring wise, in very doable. For a...
Hi all,
I had this popup on FB and IG. Looking at this and watching the videos, it seems like it could be a nice tool that can replace a number of individual items with one unit.
I haven't really seen any "real world" tests or reviews and was curious if anyone has used one of these...
My guess there is an extra zero in that number. 900 watts would be more likely.
As for the comparison between a van and camper (of any type) is very apples to oranges. I think the big advantage that slide in campers have is, you can replace the vehicle without replacing the camper. If you...
Typically when the oil dipstick is pushed out (assuming it was fully seated), it is usually caused by a large amount of blow by pressure. Could be bad rings, hole in piston, breathers not venting. Oil weight is typically no an issue and I run 20/50 in a number of older vehicles that have a lot...
Nice idea and thinking outside the box. Before going too far down that road, I would load up the FJ with gear, typical people who travel, full tank of fuel and go get it weighed. Then compare weight to the GVWR of the rig. Then take your estimated weight of the camper, multiply by at least...
Yeah I hope so. So much more electronic stuff that could fail. Both of my Cherokees were fairly "old school" when compared and between the 10 years total I had them, never once left me stranded. :)
I do love the Locker bypass harness. Being able to use the locker in 2WD really makes using 4WD...
That is looking great! Would you have any interest in renting out the install tool? I could see using this construction method but for a one time build, hard to justify the cost.
Thanks! Yeah, definitely happy with the 5100's in the rear. Been a fun vehicle and though aftermarket support isn't like Jeep or Toyota, there is everything I could want out there for it. Really wish I would have gotten back into the X-world sooner. Been a nice upgrade from our Cherokee...
Got out for a little day trip to do a little exploring and get shots with my drone. Happy with how the X is riding with the rear 5100's installed.
Here's the video
Yep, that is who/where I bought my original Kamparoo from. I happened to get one of the Australian built ones that had been traded in. It was nicer than the Canadian built ones, as it had the slide out kitchen and access door for the under bed area on the driver side.
The current ones are not...
Bummer about the vent being plugged and the issues from it. You should be able to get a brass screen vent to put on the outside part of the line. Would allow it to vent but not let bugs in.
Yeah, most everything I find in North America doesn't have standing room or if they do, they weigh a lot and are huge. Kamparoo was only 1500 lbs. loaded.
