I had done a few SketchUp drawings of ideas for the box. The first one I did almost 10 years ago, before we had the FWC. Since then we decided we need a real mattress as these thinner foam cushion type pads just don't cut it. Not being able to get a good nights sleep was are biggest issues...
First order of business is to go though all of the systems and get everything base lined and up on maintenance. The rig only has 15,000 original miles but it's now 35 years old and who knows what was done. Here are some common CUCV upgrade items. Start relay upgrade - actually done by...
Once off the trailer, looking things over you could see where the decals were at from one of the previous owners. After it left the military, it was bought by a sheriff department in Florida. It was used for the Bomb Squad! Hope they were not trying to get to a scene in a hurry. LOL First...
In following with some other "Turtle" builds like Turtle Expedition and the Mountian Turtle M1010 build, I bring you Desert Turtle, our '84 M1010. Actually this is my second M1010. The first build got started but at that time I decided to go a different route and bought a Dodge Ram and FWC...
Sounds sweet. I am going to do a Vintage Air in my 1010, in the future. Not sure if the A/C glove box will work with the VA system, as they are not setup like a factory A/C. Every one I have seen done in most cars/trucks have to use the one that comes with the VA system.
Definitely post pics up.
Funny, I did something similar driving back from Bradshaw trail. Accident on the 10 westbound. Cut across the median back to a off ramp and took the dirt road that paralleled the freeway. Bypassed about a 2 hour wait.
So to come full circle on this thread, the above picture is of my old M1010 that has a new owner (not the one I sold it to) and posted up that pic. With that said, this just got loaded onto a trailer headed for my home in San Diego. ? I always regretted selling my first 1010.
So in doing a little searching for these adapter/mounts it seems the "short" versions are on Ebay about 1/3rd the price of the "tall" versions. Would there be any reason that a mount that would span the difference between these two could not be made? I the fab skills to build a mount but...
Hi all,
I am looking to dive back into the camping world again. My biggest requirement for a new camper setup (based on our last two rigs and the one thing we really didn't like) is being able to put an actual full or queen sized home mattress into the rig. The wife and my biggest complaints...
