You really don't think companies monitor consumer sentiment and alter their products accordingly? Social Media, forums such as this, now more than ever have influence in product feedback. I thought the LR crowd were the ones for technology?
You also have no idea what I'd buy, I've stated...
You are so right- marketing, designers, engineers, never misjudge consumer sentiment- they should always just be trusted and us as enthusiast should never question them! :)
Have a safe trip!!!!
Blame it on my poor writing skills, I wasn't comparing the current Defender to the old Defender in that post. As I was writing about the technical terrain aspect I was thinking of the Jeep since that's what we've been talking about. I think it'd be just about impossible for the new Defender to...
It's not being a troll to express negative thoughts about the Defender in a thread set up for the explicit purpose of expressing negative opinions about the Defender.
I've not spouted blatantly false statements for pages and pages- In 1 post I misremembered something I'd thought I'd read about...
The LR Bias from the moderators on this forum is the only thing that is foul. I've been personally insulted by @Corgi_express, called names by @Victory_Overland and not you nor @Christian P. have once seen fit to intervene except when to chastise the people on here who don't worship at the alter...
He didn't say 37s are necessary, just something he wants. But you are right, I can't imagine any ever putting 37s on an vehicle they were going to use for back country adventures, expeditions or overland travel- you'd have a be areal idiot to think that- :)...
...and yet again for your long post, you still don't answer the primary question of my original post. How does today's "Defender" align with the core maxim of overlanding of simplicity?
I agree they are not in the same class- LR is a nice riding vehicle that can do some off-roading....if...
I'm asking about overlanding- simplicity is one of primary principles for vehicles when overlanding- with all of your vast knowledge you've yet to explain how LR aligned themselves with this in the Defender.
The Jeep is a simple vehicle with simple fixes and one in which is distancing itself...
Stock Rubicon walking all over Poison Spider, so wrong again
Isn't one of the key principles of overlanding that you keep things simple? Help me understand how LR catered to simplicity in the new Defender.
So exactly what luxury features do you think LR offers that you can't get in a Jeep that are creating this massive gap? LR has air suspension,..not terribly complex to understand and available on the Grand Cherokee.
If there truly are a lot of complex features on the LR offerings then doesn't...
Jeep has moved up to #11 in initial quality--- above the industry average and 21 spots in front of LR.
LR maintained it's spot from last year as 2nd worst; at least they are consistent.
Overall, this is an impressive video and is much more promising than that video of the Defender struggling with rocks a couple of weeks ago.
However, here's one of my biggest complaints about traction control. It's still just not as competent as lockers- this driver clearly knows what he is...
To inject a touch of positivity in here if you haven't already, I'd highly encourage you to listen to the latest podcast from Scott and Matt- they chat with the Range Rover product lead and have some Defender conversation talking about product placement and at the end have a frank discussion on...
There's a guy who bought a Defender and did a video of him driving it home from the dealer. On the way home- about 10 miles or so in- the Defender throws an error and says "restrictive performance". He takes it to the dealer twice and they can't figure it out, so he looks around and discovers...
It does seem odd- maybe it's just a one-off manufacturing issue. Jeep had an issue with several hundreds of Wranglers because a computer controlled welder got off and several were made before they realized it.
