Buying a used Discovery in 2020

Looks like I am eating my words partially. After reviewing the caliper bracket pictures, looks like you'd have to do a front spindle swap. Not particularly difficult or expensive, given the cost of crashed LR3s and that the frames are identical. But with a spindle swap, I don't see why you...

Buying a used Discovery in 2020

You're dead on about everything. The LR3 is great, but if you can get an LR4 with the timing chain stuff already done, you could always just swap on LR3 front brakes. Not like the LR3/4 weigh any different. If I can't swing a defender in the next year, that's likely what I'll do as well.

    Goodyear Duratrac's on Frontier?

^ lol, like this. I run 18" duratracs that aren't E-rated and I run them HARD. I've been 100+ miles from any civilization and never had any issue ever. 75k miles of experience including hundreds and hundreds of off-road miles in alaska, 5 trips to moab, two to SW Colorado... I have no idea how...

Land Rover LR3 EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) Light - Possible to Eliminate?

Have you adjusted it? Like the others said, that cured my issues.

    INEOS Grenadier

Right, and its nearly 2020 and they don't even have a concept car... Like you said, we shall see. No reason for anyone to wish them anything but the best.

    INEOS Grenadier

So at best they have two years to develop and release a car to be on schedule? Color me even less optimistic than for the "cybertruck" lol No hate for INEOS but this does not seem even remotely realistic. Hopefully I'm wrong, not that it could ever enter the US market.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

If you're buying new it is likely only 2nd to buying a wrangler. If you're buying used... Toyotas are a terrible deal here. I have a friend who recently sold his '99 Tacoma with 200k miles for NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. The PNW is insanity for Toyotas. There's a reason they ended up...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Excellent post. And good for you. One thing people don't realize is that the the resale on Toyotas is so insane in the PNW that I could buy THREE LR3s for the price of the same year/mileage T4R. For me, my experience has been that the cost/performance of the modern rover works the best for me...

I wonder if the KO2 is significantly different in real size. I've checked mine on bump stops (EAS full deflate) to verify fitment.

I have an SE. I have clearance for chains (tested). My spare tire also fits just fine. I run a 265/65/18, which not only has been plenty large for anything I've been able to find, but the 'limited selection' of tires included BFG KO2, Duratrac, Falken Wildpeak, Cooper Discoverer AT3, General...

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

Skip the studs dude. I understand you're not the average idiot cutting ruts into i-90 driving on studded chinese $30 tires year round, but like others have stated the performance of non-studded tires is has been so insanely good lately that it's no longer necessary. I couldn't believe how hard I...

Installing tires isn't a headache. My EAS is stock. I don't have a winch. I haven't broken down. The Horse is dead.

Independent adjustable-height air suspension with Magneride is a seriously amazing (on paper) solution. I can't wait to try it. I don't think LR is offering any adaptive damping...

Agreed on all points, especially this one. And while you may not agree with the direction they took, it's the one I wanted, so they've got at least one customer in mind. :)

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

What blows me away is that people are still arguing over ... opinions. You're allowed to think the Defender is great... or not. I've tried to have a rational, technical discussion about the choices made for the Defender in this and the last several threads. I personally think the modern rover...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I've been down this trail. In my lifted, rock-rail equipped, manual locker Xterra. And my buddy who was in his fully locked LC80 invited a friend in his wife's bone stock LR3. I was blown away and that's when I started thinking about an LR3. Yet here we are thinking that a *newer* LR with...
