The Range Rover Evoque has done well. In many ways it saved LR. As I discussed with the dealer and they agreed, the Evoque was a 'fashion statement'. Personally I hate the vehicle, both from looks and as a loaner. It cheapens the Range Rover brand. To each his own.

Agreed, the Luxury Defender is what the D5 should have been. As already highlighted in the press LR intentionaly moved the Defender "up-market".

You know, this has become a Luxury Defender religious event, not a discussion of actual pros and cons and heads-up. Personal attacks are based on your compliance to a religion, that no one can highlight their points. Only over the top gushing praise is allowed. JD Powers is actually a good...

The observations on the various traction systems was not about rock crawling. It was on broken down granite, shale that you find on a Colorado trail. Just plan around it if you can.

Vehicle quality and reliability is a moving target. Your competitors are always getting better, as you should too. I'm sure the quality and reliability of a JLR product is higher than 20 years ago. That said, my 98's D1 just keeps motoring along with just the usual oil changes, brakes, hoses...

JLR needs to correct their QRA issues before they jump on the electrification bandwagon and release dozens of new models. If they don't it will bury them. Their warranty reputation and cost will force them to be even more of a urban only manufacturer.

If you think about it this thread highlights the market segment that Jim Ratcliffe of Ineos Grandadier is targeting as LR moves upmarket with the Luxury Defender even as they (LR) grapple with poor reliability and high warranty cost that has to be eating their bottom line alive.

Probably the best comment from the "least reliable car" article: Having worked for JLR, this does not surprise me. The bosses want them off the line as quick as possible. Many employees have said that if they slow the line down a bit, you'd get a better car off the line - more time to do your...

Argh. One step forward, two back ............... The £65,000 Range Rover Sport is the least reliable new car you can buy for the second year running, says poll of UK drivers By ROB HULL FOR THISISMONEY.CO.UK PUBLISHED: 06:23 EST, 13 November 2019 | UPDATED: 06:37 EST, 14 November 2019...

You must have missed the post where I noted I have a LR4 w/HD. Virtually the same as the new Luxury Defender. While better than TC1 as sample rate has increased and algorithms updated, the operation remains the same. In essence it is reverse ABS TC with 2 locking diffs (rear and center). Much...

Moab is slick rock, not broken down granite / marbles. Always a solid surface for one or two wheels. I'm sure TC2 is improved, higher sampling rates and corresponding algorithms. That doesn't change the limitations on marbles. That is where driver skills come into play or make alternative route...

    LR3 block heater

When I pulled into the hotel in Jamestown ND many years ago all the parking spots had power outlets ....... for block heaters. Sure is nice to not have to wait for the heater to blow warm air.

Simple observation. Empherical data. Drivers who thought TC was the "be-all, end-all" were frustrated. If they stopped and thought about it they would understand the limitations and plan accordingly. It's not old vs new.

Oh, and the LR dealer event wasn't "rock crawling". It was a weekend family event on rather tame terrain. Are you now going to blame the drivers and LR staff?

I'm referring to Arb lockers. Easily installed. Does the new Defender have a front diff locker? Point is TC has limitations and requires momentum. That is a old discussion.
