    Campfire container for restricted areas

Wok is good. Drill holes and use 3 long bolts secured with nuts to keep it off ground. There so many fire restrictions in CO and other places we go that we got a propane fire. Easy to use and the rangers love us, no ash to clean up and no embers blowing away. Can cook on it and sit around for...

Custom Limb Riser Attachment point for Jeep Gobi Rack

Good to see the wire is forward of the awning enclosure, had to wait till the end to see the real distance. Looks to be good job. Well done.

    2012 LR4 Overland Project - Build Journal & Blog

Two cub packs fit in the right side (long ways) and I got clear totes for the left side at Costco. Three fit well and the extra three of the package work for the garage for storage. Yeah, the side parts work better after install of the drawers, didn't follow any directions, just looked at the...

4th Gen Camping/Storage System - DIY- Free plans!

Excellent video and a great build. I would have liked to see this before I bought my drawer system. Although you have created it for your vehicle it would be adaptable for my LR3 quite easily. Thanks for your efforts and for sharing it with the OX community, your generosity is commendable.

Does the rep of "unreliable" still hold true?

Buying parts from AB directly is a good move but also they have many videos that explain and show how to do much of the work yourself, saving big dealer labor costs.

    Power Wagon Sleeping Platform

The storage tubs work well and are sourced in various sizes. Sometimes the milk crates can be gotten for very little in cost, mine were free as a friend had a job cleaning out storage lockers and he had about 900 of them. Cut them with a hand saw. I cut thin wall plastic material (real estate...

    Power Wagon Sleeping Platform

Looks to be quite versatile and depending on the thickness of the pad actually very comfortable as a sleeping platform. Great job. Do you intend to have something to black out or curtain off the windows? I had a low platform in my Pinzgauer and used plastic milk crates that I cut down for...

"Dadcamp" 2018 - Death Valley, CA.

It is great that you were able to have your Dad along and to introduce him to your passion. My Dad and I went on 'fishing' trips in my youth (he was a very unlucky fisherman) and we had planned a float plane trip to Canada at one time. He left this earth before many of our adventures could be...

Is a swing out tire carrier worth it, or more of a PITA than it is worth?

I have a Tactical 4X rear bumper on my LR3 with swing out tire carrier. Great investment. The design wizard that thought it was a good idea to put a spare under a vehicle should be shot. weight is not a huge concern on a vehicle as heavy as an LR, another few pounds won't make that much...

    Window Tint

Mine came with darkened windows per PO. I removed the covering from the driver and passenger windows so I could see at night. I don't see any appreciable reduction in heat gain but I only have my friends LR to compare. I leave the roof opened a tad to let the heat escape, as I have a FR roof...

Blacked Out my LR3's Hood for an upcoming trek... Attempted to document the process in case anyone else was curious of a DIY Plastidip Job/Discussion

I did a 3M hood blackout like Victory and it came out well for my first time doing anything like that. Removing the window spray nozzles was the most complicated part of the operation. No bubbles, take your time and position it well. There are videos on youtube for this. Thought about paint but...

    Full length rack noise

Mostly the noise in a FR rack is caused by the cross members running at right angle to the rack instead of longitudinally. the wind has more chance to blow across( and create a whistle) instead of with the rack. I saw a Youtube hosted by Andrew St Piere about choosing a rack.

Insert for M416 to hold gear and RTT?

I had brackets made to support the RTT on the M416A. Also did a spring over to gain more under trailer height. Cross bars were 3/4 gal pipe with thru all thread inside and nyloc nuts, held up well. Use steel brackets not aluminum (it cracks) Use a back plate inside the trailer at each bracket...

What are your clever storage systems/mods/tricks (aka not drawers)?

I too have the FR drawer system but for LR and with two different sized drawers. It works in combination with the center mounted ARB fridge and storage boxes over the second row seating folded down to make a very acceptable sleeping platform. Yes, it is heavy but with the third row seating...

    Z71 Extended Cross Bars

Reason I asked is that you will probably get more response in the General Vehicle Mod section with this subject, regardless of the type of vehicle you have. It appears that it is for all vehicle types.

    Full length rack noise

I found the FR full length rack had a bit of a whistle at +35 MPH. Almost anything that is in the wind on your roof defeats the smooth lines of the vehicle and will probably make some wind noise. I try to keep the top hole closed on the LR to avoid most of the racket. I think the size of the...
