FWIW, when I had my FWC, I was only getting 12-15amp from my alternator to the batteries via their house wiring.
I upgraded the cable run from the alternator to the house bank with all 2awg and got it up to almost 60amps.
The voltage drop was tricking the alternator into cutting back the feed.
@Mlachica i was curious which one of us had been here longer so looked it up.
You have me beat by a couple months. I will now refer to you as "Sir" :P
We been here 15 years man... Fawwwwk we're old!

Yeah, multiple Orions may be cheaper, but they were require a bunch more real estate and wiring.
Victron does offer a slick all in one, but unfortunately its only 230V: https://www.victronenergy.com/inverter-charger-mppt/easysolar-ii-gx
Mastervolt has a nice all in one, but its somewhat...
Parelleled as in adding multiple orions? Ummmmm....
Yeah, their buck boost systems are pretty slick indeed. But at over $1000 for their 100a one, that seems a bit ridiculous
Yeah, i plan on using their inverter/charger (multiplus) also, in the camper
I WAS pretty set on a full Victron system also...
But... the difference in charging capabilities is hard to overlook...
Victron is limited to 30a
Sterling available in 60a or 120a
With a larger batter bank, that’s a pretty huge deal.
Especially in my situation. I’m planning on being...
Just re-read through this again a little more closely... Very slick idea with the pass through and dogs!! I dig it..
But... Insulation? I see using the aluminum box as a pass through connected to both the camper and the truck as a massive heat suck, big time.
Meaning, in cold weather...
Not really... modern Chassis Cabs flex a ton more than the pickup variants. There’s a few photos and videos on here of it.
Whether the aluminum frame FWC needs a pivot mount or not, not sure, but a composite box most definitely would
I'm also currently researching DCDC stuff and was thinking of an all Victron system like my last one..
I'm gonna briefly hi-jack Marks thread to ask opinions on this unit for a 1020ah bank of AGM's...
Subscribed and looking forward to following along...
Good choice on the chassis cab platform!
Having owned a somewhat problematic 2018 FWC Hawk, and getting pushed to wits ends with horrendous service with issues since new, i offer 2 suggestions...
-Wait until they finalize their new furnace...
