I really don't understand what we mean here by "real off-road" usage...Seriously, where and when are you ever driving "really" off of any road for any significant amount of time? You may be driving on really lousy roads but you're still on a "road" or "trail", if you want to call it that. Who is...
Even in most of the US southwest, you really aren't free to drive just anywhere - you generally need to stay on established roads except for maybe a few dozen yards to get to a campsite. The desert is fragile and I, for one, am not comfortable driving off the road - Those tracks will stay on the...
I ran different colors of electrical tape around each of my bins. It's visible from all sides and all angles. No real need to have words on labels, we just refer to the boxes by their color and whether it's "big" or "little".
I've only had my Off Grid Expedition 2.0 for about 9 months now but I've towed it a good 3000 miles total, maybe 300-400 of that on dirt roads of varying degrees of sketchiness. It's been bounced around quite a bit (I dare you to pull a camper down West Powerline Wash Road to Lake Mohave on the...
We could debate the pros and cons of different shocks all day but it might not matter much since OP seems to be AWOL...no point shouting into the wind!
That being the case, I'll throw in my suggestion for the Primus Kuchoma. It's very light, rectangular (so it packs well) and it cooks really well.
Cheers!
OP clearly stated (twice) that he wasn't interested in propane...
Have you seen Nomad Grills?
Not cheap but seem to be rugged and useful.

Congrats on the new camper!
Do you plan to have the camper installed full-time? If not then I would suggest an adjustable shock.
With that kind of weight on the back I would also suggest hydraulic bump stops. They are the cats' nuts with heavy load.
I've got Icon RXT springs on my 2018 OR...
I'm quite happy with my ComeUp Seal Gen2. Came with synthetic line and it's fully waterproof (i.e. will run while completely submerged). They are made in Taiwan (as are many of the quality winches out there). They've been building top-end winches for decades...
For what it's worth, I love my Goose Gear seat delete/drawer. It's well-built, sturdy and has a great finish.
I don't currently have shop space to work in or tools to use but I was a professional carpenter in a former life. With a shop fully setup for cabinet making and a week to work on it, I...
My " 300.00 small (12 can) soft" Yeti cooler has been used hard on many, many outings over the course of 2+ years and there is not a single thing wrong with it. It is bombproof and holds ice for days.
Don't go with what you see in a store (who knows how that display model has been treated)...
Just want to report that this week I ran my Taco across Fins 'N Things in Moab and didn't bypass a single obstacle! Came away with only one small scar on my rear bumper (the hitch skid took most of the abuse on the sharp departures). That's with only a 2ish inch lift and 275/70/17s.
And it got...
Congrats on the new rig!
I'm curious as to why you chose the flatbed route and would love to know what you think of it once it's installed and you've got some miles on it. I'm thinking about one for my Taco but I'd like some feedback from those who have done it.
I'm not familiar with OME...
We've gotten well away from OPs original question about a fair value for the rig...
While we could argue all day about what is "fair", take a look at the For Sale section of this forum. There have been a good number of late-model built-out Tacomas for sale here recently so you can see what...
I don't know if I could or not. Not having direct experience with a flatbed conversion I'm not sure what the options are, that's why I'm asking! ?
I suppose that a fold down or slide out table could be possible but I don't know that such an arrangement could be strong enough to serve as a seat...
That is great in theory but only works if you have a really large receiver tube or a really small strap...Hopefully we aren't using really small straps ?
My straps wouldn't fit through my 2" receiver.
