    Suspension Lift vs. SOA

Axle wrap occurs primarily in the rear in higher torque situations, like pulling out from a stop. The spring actually twists in to an "s" shape and tilts the pinion angle way up. This causes the drivesshaft to bind or break and the wheels to kind of hop. It is especially noticable on hill...

    grease fitting plug/blank?

Thanks, I think there is a grainger in Altoona. I'll check them out tommorrow. I'm rebuilding a CV driveshaft and because of angles it sees, I mashed off the fitting in the cross of the ujoint. I can't find locally any u joints with the fittings in the caps, so I'd like to try a plug in the...

    grease fitting plug/blank?

I am trying to find the plugs that you can put in place of a grease fitting. You put them in place of the grease fitting so that the fitting doesn't get broken off. They basically sit flush. You have to put the regular fitting back in to grease the joint. Anyway, I don't know what they are...

    Suspension Lift vs. SOA

If you haven't done it, it sounds hard to believe. 2 problems that everyone has are axle wrap, commonly fixed with a $250 traction bar, and high steer which can be $300-1000 fix. I don't want to get into a soa/sua pissing match but I would highly recommend doing a ton of research before going...

    Suspension Lift vs. SOA

SOA done right is 2-3 times as expensive as the best SUA leaf spring lifts. These guys hit all the main issues. I solved them all and am very happy with my SOA 90YJ but it took a lot of work :)

    Axe and Shovel Mounting

How much do you use the axe? If every trip, then maybe on the roof, but if you only use it occasionally and it's just for emergency (moving downed trees) then i would store it securely behind the seat or mounted to the floor. I use my shovel every trip so it's mounted with quickfists to my...

That is neat:) I thought it was some kind of super spotting scope. It wouldn't last until the cement set up here. Somebody would take it for scrap.

    Help! WJ front driveshaft...

OK, so you are recommending a double carden CV (like an XJ), I thought you were recommending a slip joint driveshaft with a single u-joint at each end. I've been running the XJ style drive shafts front and rear and having pretty good luck. Although recently the ball in the center of...

    Help! WJ front driveshaft...

Have you done this? It sounds a little wrong to me. His front pinion angle is set fron the factory for a CV shaft. He can get his cv rebuilt with 3 new ujoints for $100 from any driveshaft shop. Also you mention using an XJ shaft, they are CV.

Just signed up for a welding course

You won't regret it. I did one at the local vo-tech about 7 years ago. Mine was 64 hours for $209:Wow1: We did stick, mig, tig, and OA:) It was some kind of adult continuing ed program. Even if you just learn how to set up/adjust the machine properly, you'll be ahead

What size dual sport bike for novice rider for Labrador?

I've had a XT350 and a DR650 dual sport. The weight and size of the bikes were similar. The main difference was that the 650 ran 1000-1500 rpms lower on the highway. Big singles can make important parts go numb.:) Try to ride the bike at highway speed for 15-20 minutes before you decide.

Check out Sproul State Forest in north central PA, many miles of dirtroads and primitive camping by permit. Also Bald Eagle and RothRock State Forests have great roads for exploring but no camping. South west of you is the Monogahela Nation Forest in WV. These are all with in 2-4 hours of...

Anyone use a PSP for web surfing

That is what I was hoping, I just saw one for ~$160 that I think I'll pick up. Many times I lug my laptop with me and only use it for surfing.
