Yeah it's cold AF a couple months of the year and any non WT turns into a steel disc.
WT aren't mandated here so the roads become nice and glazed at all the intersections from the 40-50 series all seasons.
I mean I'm honestly happy if people are having excellent results with them.
I don't want people to spend that kind of money and be unhappy that's for sure, especially when it usually means you have to run them 2-3 years minimum.
In my case they have been underwhelming, and if they were 15%...
Not at all impressed with my KO2s in winter.
Suck on ice. To be expected. Suck on hard pack snow.
Good on fresh sort of wet snow (the good snowman making kind) and ok in the powdery ice crystal snow IF there is something solid not too deep under as they will toss it up and out of the way ie dig...
So, last year I found a nut missing on a wire with a ring stud on some sort of thermal safety. The tention of the wire wanting to curl up and the teeth of the stud managed to hold it in place. Escape shipped me the nut and I put it on.
This year, the EMS gave me a reversed polarity error. I...
Elkhart Indiana is a place where a large majority of the typical consumer RVs and trailers in north america are manufactured. His comment is basically pointing out the very poor quality reputation of everything that comes out of there.
Riveted aluminum can be great, if it's the right grade...
Hey NBD.
I spent a lot of time on a Ranger forum about 12 years ago, and had an 08. Nothing important changed from 06/07 onwards really. Stuff like instrument cluster but that might have been in 05, different torsion keys in 08+.
I think they were planning to drop it then but just kept going to...
Not quite correct. The Ranger ended production in 2011 for retail customers and 2012 for fleet customers IIRC. It was a boxed ladder frame in the front and C channel in the back, and used torsion bar front suspension.
I guess Europe already had the T6 platform in the last days of of the Ranger...
You need to look at your actual miles per year driven, average that over the last several years, and realistically guess on what your lifestyle will be for a decade plus down the road and if your annual miles driven will be the same.
Only then can you begin to guess if a couple or five MPG will...
"22L per 100kms with truck camper in box, avg speed 120km/h. Averaged around 16L/100km in town. Longest fuel range 810kms full to empty, shortest was 240kms(hard off road)"
Man that's reasonable fuel economy for a massive V8 in a big truck with poor aerodynamics.
I think the trailer for us is about as Goldie Locks as it can get.
It's not perfect by any means but it's about the best mix of size, weight, and room for us.
I'd like a bit smaller like the 17 just for weight and size (and a bit more flexibility in camp sites), but then it would be tighter...
Alright, so, the truck and how it did.
Without weighing the camper, I estimate it is 4700-4900# if not 5k loaded for this trip. We did travel with 2/3-full fresh tank and there was a couple travel days where grey and black tanks were 2/3-3/4 full as well.
The truck has the topper, skid plates...
Quick check in now that we are back.
My personal life has been pretty hectic, so I haven't been here for a while.
Preliminary info from Winnipeg to Newfoundland and Back.
Nearly 13,000km, $4080 in fuel, six boxes of Wheat Thins multigrain crackers, and nearly five weeks of time.
This country is...
We've decided to take the south route thru Sault Sainte Marie.
Ontario and Quebec along with basically New Brunswick this time we are just passing through with haste to get to PEI and Newfoundland.
Another trip we will focus on Ontario or Quebec, as they are a much closer drive from Manitoba...
