I love the idea and concept! How long does it take you to set up? Seems like a lot of work but it may slap together faster than I am thinking. I dig it.
Yeah I hear you. I will have to mod my tailgate to be a flip down verses a bolt up version. I have a few ideas, but it will most likely wait till spring when the top comes off for the summer.
So I bought a Pelican 1700 case for cheap on the Bay...
It should fit perfectly attached to my tailgate. I threw a board over the rear section like Jonathan showed and it is a near perfect fit, I bet there is an inch gap. I measured the gap between the wheel wells and I could get two of the...
Thanks for the pic, that looks like a nice setup! I have thought about a tub high platform as well... kind of like a tonneau cover but the logistics of supporting it make the project pretty involved.
Here are a few of the storage bags I use. I got a set of 3 identical soft tool bags at a local...
Thats cool Jonathan- Did you anchor it down somehow? I thought the roll cage captured nuts would work well. Got a pic?
I am thinking that style "platform" with a few drawers underneath might be the ticket.
Yeah, Con-ferr made some nice stuff back in they day, now it fetches a premium!
I'd love one of the boxes you have. maybe even a few of those side boxes that mounted under the jump seats.
Keep it coming.
Thanks for the stuff so far fellas. I am running a few soft tool bags behind the seats in the "depression." One holds fluids and the other recovery stuff. I have a tuffy center consol that has a good bit of stuff in it as well.
I just scored a Pelican 1700 for cheap, so I am going to see if I...
Thanks Adam, I have more pics of the "money pit" on my computer than nearly any other 40... (well, mine of course ;) )
Those are great ideas. I might make up a Con-ferr style seat this winter, that can swap in and out quickly.
We all know the upsides of the FJ40 platform. For those of us who use one daily or on the trail, we also know the delima of creating storage solutions. Thus, this thread ;)
I just spent a few days out on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands Nat'l Park, and it was fantastic. I carried a lot of the...
I haven't had any work done by them, but I have met them at Cruise moab and at Rising Sun's Ralley... they are a class act! Glad to hear their work matches up with their reputation:D
Here are a few shots of my 76 fj40 in action... its been my one and only daily driver for over 12 years. I love this rig. Its about to go under the knife for rust removal/repaint, and I am considering a LS2 engine swap... just because I can ;)
I bet even something like some speaker grill cloth or similar would be fine to vent and keep a certain amount of dust at bay. I am not familar with the vent on the jeep though it sounds like a great idea. My vents were like $3 each.
I have vents on mine to vent the gases from the flooded batteries. This isn't ideal for an offroad setup, but the $$$ for the AGM was out of my price range. These have held up great so far.
I do plan on running a small 12v fan to draw air through the box. I can, and would, run a piece of duct...
