Not getting how a 3" taller tire that's a good 1.5 wider gained better fuel economy, unless you had really steep gears and now with the new tires you have the equivalent of a tall ratio and drive loads of highway
If 275/70 doesn't float your boat I don't know why you are even considering 285/65.
Now 285/70 gets you wider and taller, but not crazy wide.
285/75R18 is a fantastic "narrow" 35. It would look the best on your truck, but that's going to be a hit to fuel economy and performance pretty notably...
Reg cab 8' bed all day long. Quad cab 8' bed maybe. Crew cab 8' bed... Too much hassle. I had a fleet Ram 2500 quad 8' and just driving in town it was annoying.
Break over, turning radius, etc. All horrible.
But you get tons of room. Depends where you drive it really.
Well assuming the body shop is staying open, the truck will go in for cleaning up the rust so so can get another 3 years out of it.
My mechanic is under quarantine for another week before he goes back to work, so the truck will have to wait for the trans cooler and maintenance.
Decided against...
There are additional expenses to selectable aftermarket lockers outside of the price difference between the units themselves.
I'm probably just going to stay open.
Can't reliably get things from the USA now that they have closed the border, and will get hosed on duty, plus our dollar is $.70...
Ugh $2200 Canadian for an axle that is need to regear.
Is the driveshaft end that hooks up to the differential the same on 8.8s as on 9.75 sterling axles?
Gah didn't post my truck it's a 2014 F150 with 8.8 31 spline rear differential.
Did 09-14 F150 have factory e locker?
I'll take a look. Can't see it being less than $1k for used axle with E locker
Don't want to spend a grand for a true Trac, or more for aftermarket E locker might just stay...
While I've never had a clutch based LSD, I've had a Lock Right, and the locking engagement user power can be very jarring and sudden depending on what all happens and when.
LSD isn't going to suddenly lock axles 100%
About to do a bunch of maintenance on my truck including fluid change on differentials. Considering adding a clutch LSD at the same time.
Why clutch LSD? Cheaper up front cost, very street friendly.
I am aware of the limitations of LSD off road.
Is the Ford Traction LOK any good? Or should I...
The fastest highway I recall seeing in Canada is 70mph, and your asking for trouble going faster than 75. And radar detectors are illegal for sure in my province.
What's the tire rating on these trailers? They are LT truck tires right? So should be good for S rating anyway
Well... we were supposed to go to the Escape factory in April. Waiting to see how this mass panic and shut down of everything pans out. Our trip to Florida in a week has been cancelled. Lost a bunch of money there.
If there isn't anything preventing us from driving to BC, we might do that. I...
What are you driving?
I'd vote the 235/85R16 personally. I ran 235/80R17 and 34x10.5R17 KO2s on the same truck, both load E, and the fuel economy was better in the 235. Truck handled better on road. Didn't off road the 235 enough to say if its better than the 34.
