Is regearing a Dana 35 really a waste of $$$?

I missed part of your question: in my experience driving in snow and mountains in Michigan, Wisconsin, California… I do not believe that any automatic locker equals “low drama” on snow and ice. Especially if side hills are involved. If you can’t afford selectable lockers put 1/2 that $$ into...

Is regearing a Dana 35 really a waste of $$$?

So, it’s not exactly parallel and not a D35, but I recently re-geared my 2014 JKUR with automatic from 3.73 to 4.56 still running 33’s that are very close to stock tire size (measure 31-13/16 when new). It had about 150k on the odometer, and was just having trouble keeping up with things like...

    Fraud Alert - SoCal Teardrops

In fairness… It does say “Inhibits Rust” right on the can. Cut the can open and see if it’s rusted… I dare you! 🤣

    Fraud Alert - SoCal Teardrops

EPA not allowing powder coating is laughable on its own. I sincerely hope that is hyperbole and someone didn’t really try to blow that much smoke up your tailpipe.

Need to find solar parts in Baja!!!

Lacking a spade connector, a partially flattened butt-splice connector probably works too.

Where to find RV solar power parts in Baja Mexico?!

You might also just put a switch in one of your solar panel leads so you can kill it when the engine is running and theoretically draw full power that way.

Need to find solar parts in Baja!!!

Disclaimer: Internet advice is worth what you paid for it. If you break off the prong you’re on your own! While having the “right” conversion terminal as shown in the Renogy manual is certainly beneficial, you shouldn’t “need” it. Any standard 1/8” or even 1/4” spade terminal (female side)...

    Rear Diff Lock stuck

Or just Jack all the wheels up onto blocks so the tires are off the ground. Easy and safe way to see if it is engaging. A quick multimeter check will tell you if the light is out when it should be on.

    Rear Diff Lock stuck

Personally I would start with oiling the air line. Then drive until you are for sure at full operating temperature, then try and cycle a few times. However, if you sat idle in a moist climate for 2 years…. Probably a good oils change/cleaning/inspection is needed anyway.

    Rear Diff Lock stuck

Do you know if it is stuck because of an air leak? I.E. is the air escaping into the diff and coming out the axle vent? If not, have you tried putting a few drops of air tool oil into the air line?

Need a replacement flysheet/rain cover for old Hannibal RTT - suggestions?

I’m looking down the road at a similar situation. I started learning to sew. It’s not gone well so far, but I have high hopes!

Need a replacement flysheet/rain cover for old Hannibal RTT - suggestions?

What is your budget? Lots of tent / tarp / canvas shops in nearly every American city “can” do this, but most won’t want to deal with it. You might be better off buying a sewing machine.

My DIY "rooftop tent platform" idea

A key part of roof top tent platforms is the full length weight supporting hinge that is built into the extrusion. Are you going to have a spline or something similar to perform this task? Also, your hinges as drawn will need to be re-thought. The hinge has to go on the end of the frame or...

    National Luna Legacy Fridge smell

Yep, all of the above. I also wipe mine out with a bleach based cleaner before and after I shut it off for long periods of time, that is pretty rare, and usually only if I’m going to park at the airport for more than a weekend.

    Help for an electrical know-nothing!

You would probably get better answers if you could tell us how long you need the power station to last between driving cycles. No matter how fast your charging, you probably won’t tip off your power station during normal daily drive / commuting.

Another dead alternator on my 1999 Monty

Yeah, my 6.0 Powerstroke used to go every 18 months for its set of batteries replaced under the Duralast Gold warranty. It got a little old and I wished I would have just spent more on the first set!

Another dead alternator on my 1999 Monty

That might be a case of “Don’t buy auto parts at a store that starts with a vowel”… Are you doing anything to check out the dead one? Are the bearings going bad? Bad diodes? Broken connection inside? What brand is it and where are you getting it from? I remanufactured alternators for a...

    Help for an electrical know-nothing!

Depending on your budget, it can make a lot more sense to list all of your expected loads, and time between charges, to size an appropriate battery / power station. If you are talking fridge only, and driving or charging at least once every other day, there are far cheaper options than power...

Custom Trailer to haul "Toad" vehicle (vs flat-tow)

That is something along the lines of what I was thinking with respect to collapsing and storing.
