Nice pic of Steve's Loop (AKA hand cuffs), Fruita was my home for about 20 years and I spent many hours riding and building/maintaining the trails in the grand valley. Looking forward to reading more on your FJC build and adventures.
I would of stopped in to say hi but was headed to pick up the wife. I've been a customer of theirs way back when they were in the mall, Fred knows his stuff for sure.
I Linex the rack for a couple of reasons. Since I was going to mount a fibreglass shelled RTT on it my thinking was that a Linex surface might be a little more kinder to it and the original Bajarack that I had did show some fading and scratches on it so I decided to see how well Linex'ing would...
Thinking outside the Toyota box, my dream vehicles would include:
1. Willys Overland with modern drivetrain.
2. Legacy Powerwagon w/diesel, pick up or panel body.
3. Earthroamer, Uni-Cat or someother luxury land yacht.
4. Heavy duty truck with a sleeper, modified to be registered as a RV so...
Kristian, IMHO I think you are headed in the right direction with your FJ.
The Baja Utility Rack is a solid choice, especially if you are planning on using a RTT. I installed mine about a year and a half ago when I purchased a Autohome Airtop and have been very happy with it. Instead of powder...
Pop ups are a good choice for many people, especially those who do not have a lot of $$$ to spend on a camp trailer. They are great for first timers, young families that need alot of cheap tent space or someone who may only get out once a year, but after using them for awhile most will find that...
Paul, the covers for the FJ fronts say for 2011 and newer models was there a change in seats? If there was I do not remember that change. I have a '08 Trail Team. Thanks Doug.
I saw one at the Expo this year and I kinda like it. I could see where it would work well for a lot of people but I don't think I would buy one, I'am more of a offroad teardrop guy. It is good to see so many different trailer options out there though.
I did see a couple of eagles and about a dozen turkeys just north of Dewey Bridge. My cousin passed away a couple years ago and I never talked to her much about her time she lived there unfortunately.
I passed through Cisco on Dec. 2nd on my way home from the Grand Canyon. It was a grey day and I did not see much wildlife either, usually see a prong horn or 2 around Cisco. My cousin was the postmaster (possibly the last one) of Cisco many years ago.
I spent a Sunday earlier this spring with our local Toyota club (Book Cliff Cruisers) at the Bangs area. We were doing a 4x4 training class with Bill Burke that weekend, we did spend some time at the playground improving our skills going up and down ledges. Bangs Canyon is definately worth...
I can understand being jaded, using the Disneyland analogy literally, I grew up in San Diego and was in a band. We went to Disneyland at least once a year to play and after awhile going to Disneyland was no big deal anymore.
Going to the North Rim is a little bit more of a commitment to get...
I should be back in Colorado in January so I might see you there if the weather is decent since I'am on the Western Slope. If not maybe I will be able to make the Expo.
I think the glamper must live out on Sublime Point , when I went last year he was there as well. Sublime Point is amazing to say the least, I have been looking at it for the last 4 months from the South Rim and I actually had a permit to go in August but the day before I was to leave my...
