    Nissan Titan crossbeams for RTT

With such a short timeline I would go get some 2x4 lumbar and build something. Not a permanent solution, but will get you through the trip. Also see what you like (and don't like) about the setup. After that you can search out a long term solution. No need to hastily spend money.

    Nissan Titan crossbeams for RTT

So if I am reading this right you are looking to put the root top tent on top of the bed. Pretty much even with the back window of the truck. Take the space a shell would normally be. Pretty slick. Never thought about putting one there. Closes off most of the bed. I like the idea. I don't...

1 gen Xterra and R50 front hubs the same?

I recall there are a few slight differences, but with enough donor parts it will work. You need to get part numbers for all the wheel bearings and retaining nuts and such and double check. I have put R50 drive flanges on a 1st gen Xterra. That was a very long time ago.

Single battery setup vs Dual battery setup

So I bought an ARB (Engle) fridge back in 2008. In 2010 I bought a new Xterra. That fridge pretty much lives in the back. Very rare does it come out. Turn it on as I need it, off when not. I'll take off on weekends and run it for a couple days. It's plugged into the factory accessory outlet...

adding an Overdrive Unit on 4r70

Since you mention transfer case I will have to assume that you have some 4WD conversion, which is not stock. But you would need to know what transfer case you are running to see if any of the normal post transfer case overdrives (like a gear venders) will work. I am not aware of any that go...

    Xterra heavy duty steering kit?

What year Xterra? I'm guessing 1st gen ('00-'04) but that is only a guess.

    Newby transmission rebuild question

My uncles '00 powerstroke got a factory transmission at 59k, warranty for a bad mechanical diode. At 260k I pulled the trans due to a fluid lead. Put in a $5 seal from the Ford parts counter. 325k an injector went bad and washed out a cylinder, get an engine but didn't touch the transmission...

    E350 steering box

Last I heard Lee Powersteering is back by popular demand. As for heavy steering when stopped, the big tires having extra grip on the ground will do that. The common fix in the 4WD world is a ram assist. It also helps the frame rail survive as it takes a lot of the force off the frame and...

    Chevy rear head curtain removal?

You would need a cargo airbag controller from the same spec of vehicle and the cargo (front only) airbags as well. The tuning of these systems isn't one of those things that you can do at home mixing and matching parts. You are going from a system expecting to fire off an airbag the length of...

Info on Verde River AZ between Sheep Bridge and Horseshoe Lake dam.

I actually have the perfect boat for that. A river jet boat. Draft of 3" when up on plane. Original AZ boat as well. Same ones used to drive UP the grand canyon (only done once).

Picking the collective's brain - ABS controller problems

The first and last bits are easy to figure out. Ford engineering numbers date code the part to the last revision. Which means the part was last revised that year, but if no changes it could be used for several more years. In the Mustang world you will see "E7 heads" refered to a lot. E is...

Ford V-10 Owners: Trans Coolers, Oil Coolers ?

Engine oil coolers are usually needed more if worked hard and spinning fast. Doesn't sound like you will be adding much stress in that area above what the motorhome already was. Transmission coolers are needed to cool the heat generated by an unlocked torque convertor. Run low range when you...

    Air Bags

As mentioned above, the bigger the bag, the softer the ride. Less pressure in the system. Less stress on the bags, the lines, the compressor. The biggest issue is packaging. How big of a bag can you fit in there. Are you looking for a pure bolt on kit? Or are you willing to do some custom...

Help me evaluate my electrical needs for full-timing

It's hard data to find. I lost the link I had. But Engle (who my ARB freezerfridge is a rebadged version) has published power consumption curves for there models. Bower used based on desired temperture inside and ambient outside. If you still want the inductive cook top, and running the...

Help me evaluate my electrical needs for full-timing

Couple of thoughts (and I did skim some of the later posts) If you want to run the induction cook top, start the engine. Trying to bank that much battery power is crazy. But the alternator will keep up just fine. The other is the fridge value looks high. Not sure what fridge you have...

1986 Ford that's been sitting since 2008 -- what to expect?

Nothing specific to the van, but in general for reviving any vehicle that has been parked for a decade. Any gas in the tank is garbage. Don't try and run it, don't try to dilute it. It is varnish and will screw up valves and rings. I've dealt with 3 engines that were brought back to life but...

    TFL Frontier Towing

After watching them try and tow with an '85 chevy truck, and clearly not knowing anything about a truck that is more then a few weeks old I can't stand watching them anymore. Come on, a small block chevy not reving past 4000? Listening for an analog brake controller? They are older than I am...

Questions about Rooftop tent on Xterra

I just mounted a solar panel up there. After that I don't even think of loading anything on top of the roof. Sleep in the back or in a trailer.

    Anyone own an Armada?

'08 got a bunch of fixes. They got a lot better in a bunch of little things. '16 didn't exist. But the '17 shares little besides the name of the older ones.
