Linda great to read your trip report and always cool to see pics of Pepper enjoying the outdoors.
The pics are really good and I like who you put the trip together, please keep posting up anything you guys get out and do.
Oh and the Tiger is looking very cool!
Very interesting, and even though the style isn't for me I really like that there is a movement to make more stuff for our market.
If we want to keep this hobby alive we need it seen in a positive way by the average person and the best way to make that happen is to have more people in our hobby.
I have noticed on the Oz forums that a number of folks have extension cords for the fridges and set them on the ground without any worries. Of course bear country would make a bit of difference :)
I use a Wilson 3watt amplifier in the WAVE Sportsmobile with an antenna on the roof, great bit of kit and I love it.
Real world test with other Verizon people outside the rig show a 1-2 bar increase
I just got back from an 8 day trip through Colorado and Mosquito pass as a real treat in the WAVE Sportsmobile. It was the first of many shelf roads we did and the first time I had tried serious shelf roads in that rig.
Scary stuff but no real worries.
Great report and always good to see...
go to equippedtosurvive.org and play around on their forum....everyone here should be on there anyway as we are well set up for emergencies.
There is a guy there who post under the name Blast and is very very knowledgable on the eating plants things, lots of threads and references.

I am putting this in the moto section rather than Fireside or who knows where else since it is moto related.
If you have Netflix check out Cycles South, a 1971 docu-drama about 3 guys who ride bikes from Denver to Panama along with a cameraman on another bike.
It is beyond funny and full of...
the antenna often makes much more of a difference than the wattage..
you can place a long good quality antenna properly on your rig and then using an adapter fit it to your handheld when in the rig.
I had a setup like this velcro'd to my FJ Cruiser dash and using a plug in speaker/mic it worked...
I have owned an Autohome Columbus and dealt with Mike at Autohome USA a number of times, he is a straight shooting no nonsense guy and I have had nothing but great experiences with him.
We live in a world where folks can post on a public forum anything they want and often without any proof...to...
i have found that a ratchet strap around the thread of the tire helps along with a rapid shot of air from the Extreme Outback compressor run into a 2 gal tank. Having the valve core out allows a greater volume of air to enter
Ok back from 8 days of 4wding in colorado and I gotta say that even considering these are the first set made I am very very happy.
2 days rain
plenty of mud
a number of water crossings that completely covered them
constant use on both sides every day
use of the cutoff switch a ton
plenty of...
I wonder how much the flat issue could be due to fast driving on aired down tires?
I know that heats up the sidewalls and makes them more prone to tears but not sure about punctures.
Sounds like a great trip with great people, I am looking forward to seeing the pics when they are viewable again.
yes it is hard to do..
I remember as part of our Overland Training Cert Class we had to learn about breaking & seating a bead, it is tough.

Ok I am back from Utah and visiting with Rock Slide Engineering (the guys at Mount Logan Offroad). I have to say that these Sliders with a Powered step are not only fully functional but also look really nice.
The build quality is top notch, they are well secured to the body with 2 mounting...
Hey Ben,
I know on your LR3 you had your roof tent opening off the side and with the rear hatch setup on the 80 you will need to do the same. That will give you kind of a mini table and overhead protection out the back.
With the camera gear you carry locking quality drawers are a must, and...
what a super cool day trip....
You hardly ever hear folks talk about Southern New Mexico yet here you are showing us some killer history, relics and buildings.
Thanks for sharing and keep it coming!
my only concern with using a chuckbox like that is on the washboard roads not only would everything get rattled around but the inside wood would get beat to death.
Maybe if you used some foam inside cut to hold the items it would work well.
Again this is only for those of us who battle washboard...
Oh I didn't mean to say that there are places to take it...hey I live in the desert southwest.
My point is that a ton of those places also have paved roads with KOA campgrounds very near by so that folks can just buy a comfy class A and tow a jeep.
