Not sure how I missed this post but glad I just saw it...
Sounds like motivation isn't a problem so maybe we can solve the other issues :)
Just to recap:
How old is your son?
And muscle issues or just balance?
It sounds like he has a peg tube for feeds. Do you bolus feed or does it have to be...
I honestly doubt it...that more would sell here in the USA.
#1 We have plenty of paved roads, lots and lots of paved roads. We have campgrounds with paved sites. There just isn't the need for a large 4wd RV as seen by low sales volume from those that make them in the USA.
#2 The selling price of...
Hey Shane....
Get a Sportsmobile....no way to fall out, most excellent heater, and everything always packed and ready to go :)
Ok seriously :
You mention some very important points..
#1 Angie gets very cold in a tent at night
#2 You guys have been wanting a trailer for a while (BOTH of you or...
I was reading a great website from a couple who travel around the world in their Mog and this page was full of killer stuff...I hope it helps settle anyone worried about Overland Mog travel

I don't have one and I don't know anyone that does...
but I think it is very cool that we now live in an age where someone can come up with an idea, make it, put up a website that can reach billions of people and then find the very few who would buy something....a hundred years ago it was much...
Alright this is really making me see the need to just get out and see more on day trips...I have been thinking in terms of camping and your report shows that even a quick trip can be filled with great times and cool sites.
thanks!
Great job Jeff in having the resolve to wake the wife and move camp...soooo many search & rescue or survival stories start out with either the person being clueless or not being willing to DO SOMETHING about the clues.
Glad to see the FlipPac setup working well in the rain, that was something I...
We are so in tune with our oveland mojo at Disabled Explorers that our can opener has the same name as our primary expedition vehicle...
The WAVE (Wheelchair Accessible Van for Expedition) and the
Leatherman WAVE
Oh and I do use the can opener on it in the field always and usually at home...
Well aside from the 4wd conversion I would say there are a few things to think about..
#1 Get a Spot since your wife has a medical condition, the cost is trival in the end and the sense of security is great.
#2 Get either a pop top or high top installed as the extra head room makes the van SOOOO...
wow that is over the top cool...
I am very impressed with your outing, how you guys worked together and it sounds like your positive attitudes made the difference between an ordeal & an adventure
sounds like you have plenty of reasons to switch rigs...
when you add up the cost of the mods needed to the Runner then I think the cost balances the switch.
Go for it especially since your kids will continue to grow and you will need more room all the time.
4x4 or no....well only you will be able to answer that and it will be based on how often you either get stuck or frustrated at not being able to go somewhere.
However it will happen over time so to worry about it now is too soon.
For me the 4wd part of the Disabled Explorers Sportsmobile means...
you are a very lucky man to be smart enough to ease the family into things and then hvae BOTH your wife & daughter into it.
My 2 sons are night & day, one loves camping the other only likes the campfire time but not much else. My wife is happy if we are on a solo trip but isn't much for group...
I am completely hooked on these reports...like others said the use of a 4wd for such a cool task, the great pics and best of all the story that goes with them.
I admit to often passing by towers/beacons and having no idea about the history, but now it will be more fun to think back on these...
Jeff your commentary is part of what makes the pics great :)
I really like the elk thunder vs hockey fans :)
Keep it coming, you really have a talent for this.
Very very cool....talk about something that will result in some serious "adventure"
also nice to see they are taking TV and journalist with this so we should get some killer video and images.
thanks for taking the time to write it up in English also
Sounds like a great adventure...
Very interested to hear WHEN you plan on going as that could make it even more interesting with spring rain or fall monsoons.
I would reallllllllly think hard on the micro.
I have talked to plenty of Sportmobile owners who never use their micro's.
I like that you are taking this on a different track than normal, very nice.
Now get out there and post up some outings :)
