SOLD - CVT Telescopic Ladder - Thank You

Thanks! I think the 2 I replaced these with were about $370 shipped to my house. These can fail, grit, dust, water etc... I don’t need to get rich off them, so I think $50 each is about 1/3 of new cost give or take a bit.

SOLD - CVT Telescopic Ladder - Thank You

I actually swapped for the Tepui ladders because they collapse themselves as opposed to having to use the little thumb lock tabs on the front. The Tepui ladders collapse with each step from the bottom. I ordered a few different non-RTT telescopic before I decided to just buy from Tepui, so if...

SOLD - CVT Telescopic Ladder - Thank You

For sale: 2 CVT Telescopic ladders from a Denali summit series. I swapped them for a different style that I prefer. Nothing wrong with them. I’m not sure of the final height, but at least 8’. $50 each picked up in Fresno, CA, 93727 or you pay the shipping by FedEx or UPS. Thanks for looking.

Utility RTT: Start from scratch or store-bought-and-build?

It was over 12 years old when I got it, pretty much depreciated to bottom dollar. At 12 years it was completely functional and I’m sure it went on a lot of great trips, and now it should be happy for 12 more years. By then, I will have custom built my own and this one will live happily with a...

    JK traction control issue

Following up on the post above, some shops will recenter your steering angle during an alignment. I’m guessing, based on your statement that you are running wheel spacers, no shop is willing to touch your alignment. I’ve run into that as well. I would suggest going in for a highly qualified...

Aluminum side release buckles from strap works?

Well, they arrived. Thank you Strapworks for decent customer service and quick shipping. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they are only about 500 miles away in Oregon. So, I had in my mind that the aluminum would be molded similarly to a nylon or polypropylene quick release, and the “spring”...

    CVT Freedom Series

Thanks. It’s no big deal if there isn’t a handy picture, it won’t change my life. I’m working on putting new cover straps on my older style summit series right now and looking into different options.

    CVT Freedom Series

Do you have an up close picture of the buckle and interference you were talking about?

Skills to build my own expedition vehicle??

It is this setup and fixturing advice that makes the difference between professionally manufactured and home built. That is also why things take 5x longer than you think. I’ve lost count of the number of times I spent an hour setting up a drill press for a 2 minute hole. That time doesn’t come...

    Viair 88P on board air

I put mine under the passenger seat. I think it was a 480C? I don’t recall, it’s been happy under there for years. I added a few computer fans to circulate air around it while it runs. Probably unneeded, but I geeked out a bit. It works nicely, and I keep an air hose coiled under there too.

Utility RTT: Start from scratch or store-bought-and-build?

As a follow up, I spent a chunk of the Covid summer modifying an AT Chaser to fit my needs more nicely, and probably could have scratch built in the same number of hours.

Utility RTT: Start from scratch or store-bought-and-build?

Just buy a spare for a trailer and drive around until you find a free boat with trailer along the road? ;) I would scratch build, but for me, 1/2 the fun is in the build.

    Gasket set and bearings help...

I don’t know your particular engine, but outside of front/rear main seals, fuel injection o-rings, some intake gaskets and head gaskets, there is very little in an engine that can’t be better sealed with a tube of permatex right stuff.

    Gasket set and bearings help...

I haven’t used DNJ for anything Mitsubishi, but I have used them for a few GM builds. I would say overall mixed quality. If I recall correctly, the last complete kit I picked up had the wrong timing chain, some gaskets were trash, some were awesome, cam bearings weren’t great but a different...

    CVT Freedom Series

I’m pretty sure I saw one of those on a pickup in town this week. It seems like a slick idea, something I was thinking about for a while already. It would be interesting to make a similar conversion for some of these diamond-plate floored tents.

    F-350 Rats under the hood

Bubble gum is commonly used for ground squirrels and I would imagine works on rats too. It stops them up and causes the end.

Aluminum side release buckles from strap works?

All great points. I think I might have already ordered before this post, but I ordered in any event. The use is on a travel cover, so I’m not worried about staining. If they don’t work well I might go to Velcro.

Aluminum side release buckles from strap works?

For $30 I decided to roll the dice. We will see how they do. My main concern is if they are too stiff to spring open of if they are too weak and don’t make it through a few thousand cycles. I just don’t have faith in the various plastics that claim to be UV resistant. If you happen to get...

Skills to build my own expedition vehicle??

Take LOTS of interior measurements before you start! All of us that build have made the mistake of measuring only one or two places and then discovering that the wall, frame, base, whatever ... had variability or wasn’t square and level... cars are not as uniform and perfect as you might think.

Tire losing air in an odd way?

Agreed, valve core is malfunctioning somehow. First I would just tighten it and see if that makes a difference. They are less than 1.00, so just replace it, no big deal. also, verify you are actually losing pressure, not that TPMS is just reading incorrectly.
