    Ridiculous descriptions from sellers

I remember trying to sell a 1984 Chevy diesel 1/2 ton about 15 years ago. I had done a frame-off restoration and upgrade cycle on the truck, there was a very detailed ad. Nobody seemed to read past Diesel before asking what sort of chip it had, whether it could make a lot of smoke, and how...

    Ridiculous descriptions from sellers

There is a corollary thread to this one... ridiculous questions from buyers. Any question leading to: “I can’t do basic research even though I possess a smart device that I used to view your ad...” “I have x amount of $$, usually not a large enough number to deserve a comma, what is your...

When is it time to patch the rust holes?

Not until you start dropping stuff through when it roll across the floor or mud/ice/rocks hit you while driving. Otherwise those holes just help you confirm the transfer case engaged. note: your acceptance of this opinion is likely based on the size/type/aggressiveness of any...

    4xe

Has anyone actually seen a 4xe Rubicon in the wild yet, bought one, or driven one? I’m really curious about them, but I’m pretty sure I have one of the worst possible use cases, and it probably doesn’t make sense for me. I have about 50 - 60 miles daily on a mix of high speed freeway and...

    Air chuck/inflators with accurate gauge

If an inaccurate gauge drives you crazy, be sure not to check your tires at different temperatures or altitudes!

How often do folks get flat tires (or need to use a winch)?

I’ve been wheelin’ and generally driving off road for 26 or so years. I’ve had 4 off-road flats. Two in one day as a high school student with bald crap tires and a heavy foot when I ran over a broken tree and punctured both fronts with branch fragments, one when I drove (fell?) through the...

    Autohome (Maggiolina/Columbus) ladder alternative

I’ve bought cheaper and heavier ladders on Amazon in my search for better replacements. I think the first try was “wolf wise”. The big difference is in the top connection brackets. If you are willing to modify the top step, there are lots of options in the world. The one I bought from Amazon...

    Bulb seal

Not to beat the Grainger horse to death, but I recently discovered that my employer has a deal where you can sign up for a web account under your name with the company as employer and your purchases are aggregated with the company purchases. That might be a work-around for those in the north...

    Modifying CVT Annex Connection

yeah, that is what I’m doing. If we get through this Texas energy crisis at work and I manage to get home someday before dark I’ll knock it out this week.

Stay 4runner or go back to Jeep...

Life will change in hundreds of ways you never expected when you have kids. Both time and money become short on supply. I would personally wait to make a major change until I was in year 2 or 3 of kid life. Just catch up on maintenance and fix the little things, also put a high focus on...

    Modifying CVT Annex Connection

I recently moved into an extended CVT Denali. It is the first tent I’ve owned with an annex. I’m not really a fan of having to pull the travel cover to hang the annex, so I turned it around. This had a few benefits, including rolling the cover up and not removing it for setup, and a much...

I need help figuring out wheel & tire fitment

Some factory wheels have the size and offset or backspace cast into the inside of them. Have you pulled a wheel to check? Or... check a factory parts catalog at a dealership or dealer website, sometimes the offset or backspace is in the part description.

Which trailer axle to match my F150

I think that modern experts wouldn’t recommending running any number greater than 5, and even then not without proper torque! :ROFLMAO:

True 5 Person Tent Possible? Please Help

When I first got into it, Tepui would rent a tent and trailer. Jucy vans have RTT too. I think others will as well. You might have better luck just being friendly and going to popular camp areas to chat people up. Before I bought my first Tepui, I went to the Tepuifest in Hollister CA...

True 5 Person Tent Possible? Please Help

Also, and I repeat this constantly, rent or buy for a few weekends first! Why do you think so many classifieds for a RTT used only one trip or a few nights show up? It isn’t for everyone and the shine comes off the penny fast. My wife, for instance, never feels comfortable that the car can...

True 5 Person Tent Possible? Please Help

I’m pretty sure Hannibal makes a 2.2 meter, and I-Camper might have one that is close in size. Lots of brands make a 6x8, and you can get away with that while the kids are small. if you get a tent with an annex, you can have someone sleep in the annex too. Or get a small ground tent for the...

True 5 Person Tent Possible? Please Help

There are a few 2.2 meter, or roughly 7 x 8’ folding RTT out there. I have the CVT Denali. 3 kids and I fit in it quite happily. Wife would fit but her happiness in camping is us going and her staying home. Dog can sleep in annex or under trailer, her choice. No dog in the tent for me.
