Xterra or Tacoma for off-road performance?

I would get a Tacoma and a winch up front. Problem solved.

    Anyone tried using an Explorer?

And to boot, Tahoe's get close to 20MPG highway (at least the newer gens). I doubt the Explorer gets any better. . They've got good GC, though. They'll be good enough for a LOT of backcountry travels.

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

Just curious why the move from the LR4? I don't see myself getting one, but I've always thought they were great off-road machines with lots of power for towing trailers. Although the MPG isn't steller. - Which dealership? LHM?

    The paradox of choice

I don't know....since I'd consider myself a bike geek, I love all the choices we have. It probably all depends on your level of familiarity in cycling gear, but even if you aren't, you really CAN'T go wrong when picking a bike in the genre you desire. And even mixed genre-- i.e. You want a...

Making a Daily Driver F150 SCrew "expedition" ready on a budget

Nice truck. I've got the same for my family as well. Awesome road trip/expedition machine. I'm all stock, though (minus 33" tires and tonneau cover), but gets me to all the places I need to go (so far).

    Lets talk tires!

I've had 26x2.35 Big apples and Marathon Plus Tour - http://www.wiggle.com/schwalbe-marathon-plus-tour-wired-mtb-road-tire/ - The MPT's were bombproof. Never EVER got a flat. I was especially thankful, riding in the dark, on those cold, wet days, knowing I'd not have to worry about fixing a...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

That's actually not bad at all going 75, towing a brick. Guessing you'll be in low 20's if you drop down to 65mph. Nice set up.

Nice set up! What kind of HWY mileage are you getting towing the trailer?

    Wiper blades

Actually, I do clean the blades when gassing up. But I'll make it a more conscious effort to keep it clean. I heard good things about Silblades. I'll have to give them a try. Thanks.

    Wiper blades

Hey, what do you guys use? Mine's stock Ford (currently has 15k miles), and since the third month of ownership, it's gone downhill. Streaks everywhere. And I live in the high desert, which makes it even worse, since I haven't really used it that much. Fed up enough now to try some new ones...

    Decisions Decisions.

    I believe because you need a 163" wheelbase. This means, for Supercab, you'll need to select the 8' bed option (6.5' for Supercrew). It's "Heavy-Duty Payload Package". • 3.73 Electronic-locking rear-axle • 9.75" gearset • 36 Gallon Fuel tank • LT245/70R17E BSW...

Nope, wouldn't make sense to only offer it with 2WD. Although payload might be a little higher with 2WD, they definitely offer it in 4WD. You can do a build on Ford.com, which should show you all the configurations available. - Here is one. Supercrew, 4x4, V8, XL, 36 gal tank, 3.73 e-locker...

    Decisions Decisions.

Yep, there are definitely trade-offs. I looked at the new Tacoma very hard, as the exterior size was right, and loved the aftermarket support. But at the end of the day, for my family, a full-size was the way to go. Just doesn't fit down some trails, but that may be 0.01% of the trails that...
