What say you? Tell me more.... :coffeedrink: I've been debating it for many years, and I think I should try to fit my square tundra down the round-hole known as the Con'.
Just gotta drill into the roof! I was talking to Front Runner at one point about it, and that's what scares me. I mean you could mount the slimline on top of some Yakima crossbars or something but then its no longer low profile anymore.
Very clean rig! This is now like 1st Gen Tundra HQ.
What size tires are you running? Slimline over the cab? Damn, I have been debating that option also.
Keith at DirtyDeeds has dyno charts (look here: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/1gen-tundra/231680-official-1st-gen-long-tube-headers-4/) that with long tubes (his longtubes, not the TRD's that I have) and his full exhaust system, the gains are around 33 hp and 34 ft/lbs at the wheels...
UPDATE - March 21, 2015
Despite the lack of photos I'v actually been putting in a lot of time on the truck lately.
I picked up the rear diff from the Gear Shop on Friday. Front was almost done too but I knew I wouldnt get around to installing it this weekend anyway, so I said "take your time"...
Awesome Chase! Glad to see you post this beauty over here. Expo is a pretty wicked community and tons of inspirational thinkers to get ideas from.
Can't wait to see this truck grow up and hit some trail this summer!
The Tundra is technically a "full-size" so I expect most of my lift to come from the shackle, keeping the spring relatively flat. If I could gain only 1.5-2" of lift, I would be happier than a pig in ******t. Fingers crossed. Lots of way to adjust after the fact though.... If I get too much lift, I...
Lol. I've owned this truck for two years come April. I only owned my 3rd gen for 2-1/2 years and that was the longest I've ever owned a vehicle for. I am quite certain the Tundra will remain longer than any vehicle has thus far. I literally look forward to driving it on a regular basis. My...
Headlight Update
Just wanted to let everyone in on the lights know, the headlamps have been ordered and I'm awaiting there arrival. Should be at my door in ~10 days. Thx
Looks like my diffs got bumped ahead in schedule. The re-gear starts tomorrow and will take a day or two. I work through...
Gotcha. Valid point on the BBK.
Widening the stance of the truck will also make it tougher to squeeze down those tight trails. You gain tire clearance on the frame but lose it on measure width of the wheels...its a constant game of trade offs we play! I still manage to get my 35s to turn at...
I think your reasoning for wanting to run a smaller tire with your stock gears makes sense....... Oh wait. Nm.
Haha sorry I had to. If your thinking of getting away from an MT i would seriously consider one of the "hybrid" tires. To me (this is completely subjective) you have regular AT tires...
Let's go back to the drawing board a little bit here. Have you already purchased your tires?
My SCS wheels have 3.5" backspacing which is fairly aggressive for IFS. However the Tundra is kind of odd-ball with it's Tacoma drivetrain and wider body. If I were you, I would get the wheels you want...
