Powdercoating? No Ma is talking about the aluminum exterior on the front of the trailer. The rear of the expanded metal cage isn't enclosed so anything you store in it has the potential to scrape/scratch the front of the trailer.
If I recall it was around $160. Apparently that was a pretty good deal. The guy who sprayed it said his receptionist quoted me less than she should have, she didn't take into account the aluminum skin which "required a lot more prep than usual to ensure the Line-X adhered properly."
What mounts are you using to mount the Foxwing to the roof rack? I have a 510 with a SoCal roof rack and am considering a Foxwing but not sure what mounts will work. Nice trailer btw, someone's going to love it.
How am I going to get my overlanding fix now, Chris?! I only watch a few channels on YouTube consistently and yours is one because I can actually see myself in your shoes. Can't wait for next spring! You're allowed to build your Jeep over the winter but don't go and get too many sponsors and...
The water heater door has a tendancy to swing partially closed from a breeze, if it's bumped, the trailer is leaning to the right, etc. A couple small neodymium magnets attached with good weatherproof double-sided tape and it stays securely open. The main doors have holdbacks but unfortunately...
Little late to the party here but I have the cage on my 510 and it's proven invauable. Large item storage is at a premium on these things. Also, storage that won't get damaged by it's [metal? sharp? heavy?] cargo. The galley/kitchen is obviously wood and has no way to secure cargo so short of...
We use ours extensively. Storage is at a premium in these things. We store blankets, Mountain House meals, a Clean Waste toilet (some areas require one), rain jackets, etc. Maybe it's one of those "you don't miss it if you don't have it" kind of things. I really like it.
My shocks are always left on 9 and it eats up the terrain like a trophy truck (unloaded or fully loaded including 30gal of water, doesn't matter). I see a lot of off-road trailers bouncing around and am always surprised because the suspension in the 510 just works well.
Not a major modification but one of those things that just makes life simpler. I got tired of using bungee balls to hold the jack handles out of harms way. Why don't these type of jacks have detachable handles?! Anyway, those bungees are not terribly fun to wrap around. Ever had one slip out of...
Very nice. I didn't realize you could lock the wheel position independantly of the jack when traveling, for example up and out of harms way. Brilliant. Can't wait to see how it performs off-road!
Your style is very relatable, hilarous straight-faced honesty. Subscribed!
Edit: Saw your fabric tear. I've had great success with Tear-Aid (https://www.amazon.com/Tear-Aid-Fabric-Repair-Roll-Type/dp/B001OPO13M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1493420718&sr=8-3&keywords=tear-aid) repairing my ARB side...
Yup, I've researched the Ark XO in the past, had my eye on it for a while. I love that it's non-pneumatic and basically bulletproof. Just waiting to see one mounted on a So-Cal and get some user feedback before I pull the trigger. The pneumatic wheel is a fairly large diameter which is great for...
I love my pneumatic one, especially off pavement, I've winched my trailer over rough terrain with it. I've always been curious if the XO provides any advantages. I also didn't see a place on the So-Cal frame where it would fit.
Nice, I've been considering one of those. Post a pic of it on the trailer if ya could. I didn't see a place it would fit on mine. The tongue box, cage, and jack receivers are all in the way.
Truck and trailer look great. I've towed mine thousands of miles with no issues. Still surpised where the setup will go if I'm feeling adventurous. Congrats!
