My Tacoma has a 76" track width. The 510 is 84" so my trailer tracks 4" wider on each side. While not technically ideal in terms of following the truck it's adventageous to be able to see the fenders in my mirrors when navigating tight areas. The F-150 is ~79" right? The 459 has an 80" track...
I'll preface this with...it's all about the money! LOL
I do. The pic above is of my trailer. My experience? You can never have too many options to secure cargo. Keeping stuff secured (especially off-road) becomes a priority quickly. I lined my drawers with pick-n-pluck foam from a Pelican case...
For a while I used a long propane hose but moving the hose between appliances got annoying so now I carry a second small tank. I bolted this mount inside the front cage to secure the tank. It's a single strap with a quick release so no tools required to remove the tank unlike the one on the side...
You'll be fine. H1's are 86.5" wide and they do it. You're 79.4"? No worries. This switch back near the bottom will probably require the most effort, but most of them look a lot worse than they actually are. Use a spotter if you're concerned.
Same setup here. Compared to the Duratracs I used to run these 255/85-16 Cooper ST Maxx's are a dream. Quiet, wearing slowly, and tough as nails. No plans to ever switch either.
Sure is, if you don't get the heater and you get the "galley upgrade" the drawers are full depth so there's no space behind them. While very nicely installed by So-Cal (aluminum enclosure, etc.) like you I couldn't justify the additional cost when the Propex kit is "only" $700. The 510 has the...
The battery is in the tongue box, fuse block is behind the drawers. FYI the wiring harness that comes with the Propex is way too long for these trailers, we cut about five feet out of it to ensure it was the exact length we needed. Also, you can unclip the pins and pull the wires out of the...
Yep. The hose that comes with the heater isn't nearly long enough though. I ended up just getting a long hose custom made with a standard propane connection on it so I can reach any propane device anywhere around camp.
No pics but I can post some tonight if you'd like. Zero maintenance for me. I empty them after each trip of course, also leave the fill/drain valves open when I'm not using the trailer so the tanks can dry out. The water heater is permanently plumbed to the tanks. You do have to connect a...
Tekonsha P3. It's the only controller I've ever used but I have nothing bad to say about it. It's proportional and adjusting the max output on the fly is easy so I usually lower it a bit for steep slippery descents.
Truck and trailer are on 33's. Honestly the main limits I've found are the approach/departure angles and the trailer length. I don't worry about frame clearance, durability, etc. If my truck will go over it, the hitch will clear, and width/length isn't a show stopper I have no concern the...
For those with the Propex heater installed, where do your vents enter the cabin? I'm going to be installing one soon, not sure if putting them near the feet (but below the shelf) would allow them to get blocked by bedding.
Great report and fantastic photos! Any chance you'd share the location of that waterfall campsite? It's gorgeous. I'm heading to Utah next month and would love to stop there.
