Heads up for those with cold feet like myself. I found this Teton "Mammoth" sleeping bag on Amazon. It's huge, but more importantly it's the exact size of the mattress in the 510.
That was a bit east of Mormon Lake AZ off FR 125/126 on the way back from Overland Expo. Very scenic area but it lacks any technical terrain. Thanks to the Fun Treks books (great guy, met him at the Expo) I'll be doing some routes in Moab and southern CO this summer in search of trails that make...
Took a little overnight trip to the Lincoln National Forest in SE New Mexico.
Heading out.
Nice to be able to see the fender in tight spots.
Now we're getting somewhere.
Sorry to interrupt your lunch, guys.
Wonder what's up that way?
At 9,000' it was WINDY and briefly snow-rained...
So the Partner Steel griddle is a fantastic piece; it's also heavy, indestructible and will win in a fight against most anything. I didn't want it banging around in the kitchen area and it won't fit in the drawers so I bolted a Pelican 1720 to the roof rack. More storage for other flat things, too.
Chris, great article! You mentioned you installed a propex heater. Where did you put it? I'm considering installing one on my 510 but not sure where to put it since the normal location So-Cal uses is taken up by a full length drawer.
Yep, I didn't realize that. Ended up having a propane place make a 15' hose with a 3-way end, can run that into the ARB room and just use the regulators/hoses that came with the various propane devices.
Anyone happen to know what adapter is needed to make the Eccotemp hot water heater accept the same hose as the Partner Steel stove? Or vice versa? I'd rather carry just one hose, and I need a longer one anyway. The stove has a hand-tightened connection, the water heater uses a wrench. I don't...
Took delivery of my CCT 510 last Saturday. Excellent build quality, handles like a dream off-road, suspension is fantastic. Couple pictures taken during shakedown in the Rio Puerco, NM.
Speaking of generators check out the new Generac iQ2000, supposed to be real nice: http://expeditionportal.com/outdoor-retailer-2015-new-toys-for-overlanders/
Good news! My lack of hands on experience is what led me to question it. For some reason I thought the water heater requires you to provide your own non-integrated pressurized water source, while the 30 gallon tank and pump function as a separate system. Pics would be awesome.
Kevin, how do you pump water to the water heater for, say, a hot shower or washing dishes? I have a 510 on order (with water heater and 30 gallon water tank) and am under the impression you can't pump water from the on-board tank directly to the heater.
