RMP&O, thanks for the book info. My interest was sparked when Stage said it was an "Official" book. Though not official and written by a magazine, I'm sure it is a good read.
Let me rephrase it since it may not have been clear to you the first time.
They sold an LC80 in the US that is practically identical to a model they also sold in Australia. Same engine, body, frame, drivetrain, alloy wheels, etc. Btw, not all Australian LC's came with part-time 4WD. Just take...
This is what I said
Re-Read what I actually said. You are talking options or variations. Here goes one of many LC80's you can find in Australia. Look at the Tailgate (non-barn door), body colored flares, alloy wheels, 4.5 Petrol engine, Automatic transmission (Yes, I know it is an A442). Yes...
Barn doors and the option of inferior headlamps make it a REAL Land Cruiser? Barn doors do look cool but I would not trade the tailgate/hatchback for it unless I was building a camper. There really is no performance benefit and AFAIK, they don't seal as well, it's really just a preference. FT...
I think your best bet is swapping your Sahara for a Combination bar. Welding an anchor tube on top of your Sahara might be sufficient but it won't be as sturdy as the bar work on the combination.
This post pretty much sums up Stage2's view:
Paraphrased, "The US version of the 80 series is not a "real LC" because its accessories like alloy wheels, leather seats and a sunroof. "Real LC's" have certain look. Real LC's have an OS bar."
Well... The US market 80 series is identical in...
Modern Land Cruisers were designed for soccer moms and grocery getting'?? Toyota builds Land Cruisers for the people that will buy them and need them. And who are their customers? You would be hard pressed to find a soccer mom driver in Saudi Arabia.
AFAIK, the TJM factory in Australia had a fire a couple of years ago and had to shut-down. They've since sent production to China. The quality control has always been good.... or good enough where Toyota (rumored) uses them for their OEM, Australian market bull bars.
Chuy, looks great! Thanks...
Regarding emissions, the OEM plunger type dual filler would be the one to get. Our smog testing around here requires vehicles to have the leaded gas restrictor on the filler. If the dual filler doesn't have it, you can install an aftermarket restrictor. Adventureduo found a manufacturer for...
I'd say the best build quality goes to Slee and that is what I'd get. Too bad they discontinued the old style Kaymar. It looked a lot more stock than the current design.
I have one and like using it for summer camping. Keeps the bugs out, stores really small, sets up fast and easy. The material could be better but the design is fine.
It is possible the towing capacity difference could also be related to the "under the bumper" hitch vs the "in-bumper" hitch. I don't know for sure. However, I do know the under the bumper hitch can be mounted to any year LX/LC100.
If towing 6500lbs, you'll want to address both standard and...
I have had the chance to use CGear Mat a couple of times and it does keep the tent cleaner. The heavy weight material is nice and doesn't blow easily in the wind. The product demonstration video shows it with the optimal sand grain size.... small enough that everything passes through. But I...
I had thought about getting something like this for my toddler for the same purpose.
Columbia Snuggly Bunny Down Bunting
Comes in 24mo size
We also have a Phil & Ted portable crib that is nice since it has an insulated self-inflating mattress. The top zips off too. Not sure this would be...
