Keep in mind that lifting the truck more does not alleviate the fact that you are rubbing. It just changes the static ride height of your suspension so you rub less often. You will still rub in the same location with more lift, but you would just have to compress the shocks more to get to that...
Haha well it definitely is a tight fit! As for the cutting, well I guess I've been building up to this point for the last 5-6 years. I just know what my needs are and some sheet metal isn't going to get in my way! Haha. Bed bob coming soon....
Thanks! Can't wait to get the new leafs and coilovers in... still going to keep it LOW but will help with the stance a little. My CV angles are pretty much stock right now, it's awesome! haha
Silver ones will be for sale soon. Matte Gray one was the spare off my former LX450. I just borrowed...
Thanks guys. I like the look of the flares but it sure would be nice shaving 4-5" of width off the truck for the trails. I might just let nature decide... lol
UPDATE - Nov 24, 2014
As promised, I got the wheels and tires mounted today. Pretty stoked how it came out, I think it looks pretty...
UPDATE - Nov. 23, 2014
I ended up taking Friday and Monday off work in order to get some good dedicated time on the truck. I ran to Montana on Friday and picked up a car full (literally) of gear that I had waiting at the border. I got up fairly early on Sat. to get started. I had a few things I...
I actually was provided with an alternative to the Fox's knowing the wait was going to be so long, however I am quite sure I have made the right choice in just waiting it out. I'm sure they will be a thing of beauty.
Lol too much talk in this forum, not enough progression...
That would be super helpful... post up some diff swapping tips when you can! The rear isn't bad, I've done that a handful of times myself but only ever dropped 1 IFS clamshell in my old 95' Pickup and it was a PITA.
LOL, well the black ones I have on order are short term until I can get my...
Thanks for the link. My buddy actually did that on his bobbed and tubbed 1st Gen Tacoma. Looks pretty good and I will be going that route if I can't get the flares to work. I'll know this weekend...
UPDATE
My Fox C/O were ordered 4 weeks ago. Fox said there will be another 4 weeks until they...
First off, what's your budget? I skimmed your first post so I apologize if I missed it. You said you will be DD'ing the vehicle, what difficulty level of offroading do you plan on doing? How many people are in your family that will be using these rigs?
IMO the 3.4 5VZE is a legendary engine. I...
Wanna drive up to Canada and pull my diffs for me? haha You must have the process down pretty good! Glad your up and running. I also just bought the OTRATTW 6 switch panel and was possibly going to put it in the sunglass case overhead. Although there is so much room below the clock and ashtray...
Last I heard they were still developing... which I read, probably not coming soon? Hopefully they chime in.
I know Addicted Offroad also had plans to bring their plate bumper to the Tundra in 2015.
I also came from a 3rd Gen 4Runner, some earlier pre-Tacoma pickups, and a 97' LX450. You hit the hammer on the head with your review. I loved my LX but it was just so expensive to run/maintain and still SO gutless. 4Runner feels like a racecar in comparison. Now building a 1st Gen Tundra for...
Bummer on the accident but your safety is the 1 priority so I'm glad your ok. Very nice Tacoma and I wish you the best in getting it back on the road again. Cant believe the snow you've got already!
Thanks guys! haha yeah the snow sucks and the anticipation is killing me too!
Why not Fox? lol
A high performance shock is a high performance shock. It's the valving and possibly the coil (progressive vs. digressive and weight rating) that makes them feel different. SAW, Icon, Fox, King...
Thanks Mason! Should see some decent progress in the next week or two.
Update and Thoughts for the Upcoming Week:
The "tub" is officially done. We cut and welded on Saturday. Drivers side was a little harder than passenger side due to the shape of the floor from the kick panel area. Tool a...
What a great thread! SO many good ideas in here.
I recently stumbled upon this on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1282510083/the-ultimate-grab-and-go-camp-kitchen-the-camp-cad
It just so happens that the people making them are an hour drive away from me! Honestly though...
Yah this is a super nice rig. I've been chatting with DevinSixtySeven over on TS a little and he's been super helpful with wisdom/knowledge on the Tundra platform from a standpoint that isn't desert-only. Really cool build and I appreciate his efforts in the truck immensely.
I may one day go...
