I’ve been wanting 74weld to make a set for YEARS. They have a set for JL, JK, and now Tacoma and Bronco.
I’d gladly pay a couple grand for a set, but as of now they’re about $5k a CORNER. Hard pass at that price.
Anyone who think Scott Kilmer is a reputable is sorely mistaken. Go find a real YouTube mechanic to get advice from. Car Wizard will tell everyone to just go buy a Toyota, but he’s a huge Rover and Jag guy and has owned several.
If you want to talk cost of ownership over time, my 46k mile LR4...
With how good the lithium packs and solar chargers are, I don’t see the need for an aux battery anymore.
I’m also running an ARB single (actually it’s a Chinese knockoff) under the hood and it’s been great. Used it 5 times in the past week.
If I was out west, I’d have a full size truck and a trailer. You can do 85 all day with a F150 towing 3000lbs and 1000lbs of people and gear.
Since you aren’t wheeling, keep the 392 totally stock. It’s already more capable than you need.
This guy a a wacko with these prices. Plenty of people are doing original art based on these (and other old LR ads), and you can support an independent artist for less than a 1/4 of the price.
A "ground-up" designed piece by Tremec thats pretty much a copy of a Land Rover LT230. Gear driven, "E" pattern shift.. high and low up/down; lock and unlocked center diff left/right. 2.5:1 low.
This is the LT230 for example:
It's almost certainly the same as the ARB, so 100%. Email the seller, they're usually very quick to respond despite the language barrier. I've never had a bad experience ordering from AliExpress.
the smaller one is still 30/30... 30 minutes is a loooooong time and if you're hitting the duty cycle on that you need a larger compressor full stop. IIRC I only needed 90 seconds or so a tire.
