    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

Understood... :) From my limited learning so far I agree. Older, mech. pumped diesels are the easiest way to go diesel in a conversion which is what makes the 4bt/MB300/etc the choice for many. But from my perspective it truly is old technology. Its simple and yes, it does work ok... but at...

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

Phew... what a read! lol! Read through about 90% of the thread.. phew! And I agree that it does sound like it is a difficult swap in a TJ/LJ. What I suppose I don't understand is the why? Seems that most of the issues stem from making the gauges function and interfacing with the comuters...

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

Guess I know what I will be reading tonight... haha! I wnoder how hard it would be to get the 2.8 or 3.0 to run as a "stand alone" engine. I mean, a manual tranny and an older style Jeep like my CJ. Wiring is minimum there and almost all gagues are mechanical.

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

Stone soup... I was going to mention the VW motor but I see you are already following Mast's conversion. It seems a good option if one kept the overall jeep more stock, say around a 32+/- tire? Another option would be some of the lighter Cummins 4cyl motors like in this thread (long read but...

    Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Diesel option

Emissions/registration is the first hurdle I see come into play. Not sure hoe you would skirt around that unless everyone interested lived in an exempt state/county? Then you have to consider the motor itself.. is it new or used? I'd hate to sink 10-15k into a "lifetime" engine swap only to have...

spot weld cutters I found this little guy at harbor freight. For about 6 bucks it does a pretty good job of cutting out spot welds.

My New (AEV) American Expedition Vehicles Jeep!!

Welcome to the sickness! :) I understand your concern over making the switch from one platform/brand to another. But that is the advantage of growing older. When I was in my teens and early 20s I thought Jeeps had to be built "X" way or they were not "cool" of capable enough. As time goes on we...

    Bolt-together fiberglass Jeep-tub trailer kit

Good to see your jumping right back into it. Are you going to start your own SEMA thread or just add to others? I'd like to see what you found interesting, everyone seems to have their own perspective.

Whats the story with the Commander?

Wonder why they didn't put the 3.0MB diesel in these like the Grand Cherk? Maybe that would have helped sales...? Just a thought.

Are you concerned the corner where the hood meets the back of the fender will bind/rub as you try to lift the hood?

Half of what amazes me with you build has nothing to do with the build at all! Most of your work so far is great and at a level most of us aspiring wrenches could attain. But what really amazes me is how well your write the build! Lots of pics and details and its all understandable!! I don't...

Getting cooler everytime I see it! Wish they'd paint those wheels white though! And I would like to see it with a Landy style exo-rack and RTT... just to see it. :)

    JK flatbed from Burnsville Offroad

I'll chime in with my opinion here, just because. ;) I like the concept, if not the actual execution. Jeep has been without a FS pickup a long time now. Even a mid sized Jeep that has the ability to tow would be nice. Required or needed? Prob. not...and also prob. not very good at large volume...

Sounds good. Those hoods are/were flimsey,at best, when new. Not sure which would be stronger between a lip and the rod? They also tend to flex at the center seam so maybe get the rod to follow the curve along the inside? Can't wait to see this thing putting around!
