    Jeep CRD?

"Are they worth a ****?" Well... depends on what you expect and who you talk to. The VM diesel (Italian made) was found to be fairly problematic and was known to suffer head gasket issues. Google it and you will find a lot of intel both ways. Some folks were content with them while others (dare...

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

I've always kinda wondered about weight and CG (Center of Gravity) trade offs. Obviously keeping the CG low helps with stability but getting bigger tires on to gain clearance makes that hard. Which is partially why I was curious when you started the body mounts. Seems like a small body lift...

Buick... IIRC only some of the Odd/Even fire buicks have different heads/ports.Some have rectangular ports and some are sorta dog legged shaped. And the 3800s are generally a different animal. You could search for help over at the JeepsterCommando site or earlyCJ5. Of course you could just get a...

    RTT mounting pics/help?

Thanks for the thoughts! One more odd question... where does the other sections of ladder (if I had them?) go when the tent isn't in use? Any guess as to how long yours is when installed? How many sections? Thanks again!

    Rango.....1942 Willys MB

Not sure how I brain farted that this is a flatty! oops. Though I have to wonder if a rear dump would work with the stretched frame and steering box moved forward.?. Maybe with a mid shaft bearing on the steering shaft? *shrugs* I'm just not a big fan of headers but its your jeep, right? :)...

I'd stay with the manifolds...You could go to the junkyards and find rear dump ones off the buick cars. They work fine, never wear out, and don't transfer as much heat to your tootsies. Never seen a bolt on yolk before...odd! But then a Buick in a Jeep is odd (fire) anyway... :) That super short...

    RTT mounting pics/help?

Thought of that... I had thought of something like that but I don't see a lot of boat shops in the part of Germany I am in... :) Since the beast will likely be going into storage soon I may just bungie the pool "cover" over it for now and call it good. I gotta ask.. how do you like you...

Found an MBT Willy's Trailer For my AT Build

Nice build so far! Kinda a shame that the old military/early civy trailers are getting so hard to find...*shrugs* Should be a nice trail dragger when your done though! I have a question about the hard shell that came on it. Could you give me some more information about it please? Manufacturer...

Its Harbor Freight...! LOL! Funny, mine was green, not red? I wonder if they source them from different manufacturers? I think yours is the next bigger one from the POS I had.. mine felt like it was made out of sheet metal. And if I had half the stuff I've thrown away over the years I'd be a...

    JK Rooftop tent mounting options.

My thoughts.. whatever they are worth? Having been working to get my Technitop to mount on my Scrambler I'd like to repeat the above statement about the habitat. If you haven't bought your tent yet this is a great option. You get the tent without the weight and wind resistance (not to mention...

Coolness at work! Good job! If i may add a little to your side bar about the usefullness of the band saw? I can see where a quality one of these would be very handy. I would like to specify "quality" as the el cheapo one I bought from Harbor freight was a real lemon. Granted I bought the smaller...

Chevy Cruze to get diesel next year

Now if only the 3.0 would come to the US on a crate, with a flywheel and bellhousing for a manual tranny, and a stand alone computer!!!!!! Sigh.

Buying an XJ/ZJ, what should I watch out for?

Any XJ '91 or newer. Avoid the Dana 35 if at all humanly possible! The 4.0/AW4/NP231or242 is a good combo. 4.0 tends to crack the factory exhaust header near the collector around 80-150k miles. Also usually start leaking from the rear main seal around those times too. AW4 is near bomb proof...
