    Rear tire mount pro's/con's

I have a Kaymar swing away carrier on my 80. I used the stock carrier on my old FJ40 for about 13 years. IMO there really isn't a better option for carrying a tire if you don't want (or can't have) it under the vehicle. Inside sucks, roof top mount sucks, mount on the hood (ala Series LR) also...

Recommendation on Lid hinge and latch system?

Stainless hinge I used a stainless hinge on the front to open like a clamshell. It was not designed for instant removal, but it can be removed in a few minutes.

    Tailgate chains

There are a number of parts houses that supply parts for vintage Willys, I would try them. I doubt that the tailgate chains are any different than those on my '47 CJ2A... M

Buying FJ60: What to look for?

I simple installed an FJ60 FF rear end in my 60. The stock 'C' clip semi floating rear axles are not a common point of failure in FJ60s. I got my FF rear cheap and had plans to nstall a factory e-locker from an 80 in the rear, so I swapped the FF rear axle into the 60 when we were doing the OME...

I have the Fiamma levelers, and they work well. Very strong and simple - no moving parts. M

Buying FJ60: What to look for?

Reliable, yes. Powerful?, not for what you describe. Lack of power is the only issue. On flat ground you will be OK. You'll feel the lack of power on the hills. Larger input shaft and better adaptability to an H55F. The OME stuff is as good as it gets for leaf spring suspension - and I...

    Gas powered 12Volt charger

I am considering the Honda EU2000i genset to charge a pair of 6V AGMs in my trailer, which will run an inverter, fridge, lights. The Honda can be bought for abot $1200 USD, and is fairly quiet. Starting from stratch, would you buy the same again? Which smart charger are you using? M

You will not...

    RTT's and Rain

John I got your e-mail about this also. There is only one reason - not sealing at the front gasket. Could be one of the following reasons... 1. The most common reason is too much stuff/gear in the tent. If this happens and the rear latch is pulled down tight it could cause the front to lift up...

    12V Coffee Grinder?

I will probably use my French press. It is simple and makes god coffee. I also like a Melitta cone - real simple. I am staring to think there is no 12V coffee grinder. Product opportunity for someone here. A hand held stainless grinder - fill with beans, hold it over the basket and press a...

    12V Coffee Grinder?

Well, looks like there isn't such an animal. I like fresh ground coffee but don't trust myself with any thing mechanical before the first cup in the morning. Inverter, I guess, since I have one already... Thanks.
