    Roof top tent

Dan and Corey Dan - I think you saw this in my Maggiolina Extreme at Pyramid Lake. A powder coated gooseneck chart light - 10W Xenon that throws plenty of light for reading or close work. The factory installed light is OK for general illumination, but not for reading. The light above is about...

Advice on awning for Maggiolina AirLand tent

The Fiamma awning is a good product. Whatever solution your decide on, it makes a lot of sense to attach the awning to the top shell for shade and weather protection when entering or exiting the tent. Attaching the awning to the bottom shell eliminates access to the door on that side, and even...

    Feedback on an FJ80

Rust!! The ad says - 'will need new exhaust soon". Be aware that a new exhaust system is going to cost a lot of money - down pipe, cats, sensors, muffler, etc. It would be a lot cheaper to buy a better condition truck.

Cruise Moab Roll Call (legally open to all Toyotas, all vehicles welcome IMO!)

I will not be able to be there. But I was just visiting Gary at Mudrak's and he is madly prepping vehicles for the trip. He's leaving Sunday. M

    Coleman mod. 532 stove

I love that old stuff. Made in America sixty to seventy years ago and still going strong. Cool stove. Ship it to me, and I will take it camping...

What do you consider to be the best cookware kit?

Several years ago I was on the hunt for a good cook kit and could not findone that you could actually cook with (IMO). So I went to Costco and bought a full set of aluminum non-stick cookware. I sorted through them and picked out what I wanted to take on my trips - the rest went into the...

    FJ60 tuned for mpgs.

Jonathan Ward at TLC in LA is putting 2.8L turbo diesels into 40's and 60's and seems to have a green light from the DCA referee. You might talk to him about a swap. A lot cheaper IMO, to have the valves done, get the carb redone by JimC, and install an H55F five speed. In my 60 (with 5 speed)...

    The Ultimate Awning-shelter?

I have an MSR Outfitter Wing. It is a nice shelter, and has the benfit of being able to set up freestanding or with my Maggiolina. I also have a custom 10' X 12' traditional convas dining fly - very nice shelter, bu a PITA to carry and set up. The MSR Wing rolls up and stows in the tent...

Apache Chief - 1st adventure trailer ever?

I had an early 60's Apache similar to that for years. It pulled/folded out on both sides and had 2 double beds, storage, etc. Aluminum roof and was tiny and lightweight. I pulled it all over with my FJ40 for years.

Advice on awning for Maggiolina AirLand tent

I like the idea that Dan (Spresson) posted. I filed it away. I think it could make a good 'kit' if refined a bit, and used a color matched material. Thanks for posting, Dan. Mike

Eezi-Awn or other RTT user tips

We are putting up a new (revised) web site in a week or so. It will have manuals for all the tents in PDF format. And lots of other stuff. The cover that came with your tent is HD PVC. It is about as tough as anything that can be folded up. There should be only ONE bungee that circles the...

Advice on awning for Maggiolina AirLand tent

Corey The Fiamma is a good choice - especially if you mount it to the top shell. You may get wind noise from the case hanging out on the side of the tent. This will provide cover when accessing the tent in bad weather. I would be careful about drilling through the shell, because you can tear up...

Rack to replace factory on 4runner

Nice. Thank you all. Of course I know about the 'usual' options - Thule and Yakima, etc. I was looking for the beefy total replacement package. I appreciate all your replies.

    Lanterns

Nothing quite like a big canvas fly with a camp table, comfortable camp chairs, and the hiss of a old style liquid fuel lantern. Possibly a romantic view, but there it is.
