Depends on where you are...
In Mexico, Modelo Especial or Osa Negro, or just Carta Blanca
In Germany, Spaten Pils
In the UK, Bass
In Australia, depends on if you are in Sydney or Melbourne
In the US, Fat Tire, but take your pick!

The Columbus zipper is protected, and rain runs down the outside of the slopped rear of the tent.
All these tents perform very well in the rain. Not sure what you mean by "extensions"? do you mean rain fly? Awning? Other?

It does seem incongruous doesn't it?
When at a typical trade show, the Landcruiser and tent are an 'exhibit' and I would rather stay in the trailer in the parking lot than at the typical motel
And I take some month long trips to Montana, NE Oregon, etc. in late Fall. After tramping around...
Choosing a roof top tent
Everybody has a slightly different set of requirements for using their RTT. This is why we have several different models in various sizes. We have incorporated a section on our website to assist people in understanding what models might best suit their needs HERE. This...
A simpler idea...
Set up a relay on the power feed from your battery to the trailer connector - near the battery. Control the relay with keyed power. This allows the trailer to receive power only when the vehicle is keyed ON. What size wire do you have for the trailer power feed?
The power...
Grim'... Thanks for the thoughts, the link, and the terrific photos. The axles on this trailer are Henschen (sp?) and when I crawled under for a look they were just above level. The shocks are not new, for sure. Looks like the axles bolt up to a plate fixed to the frame, and might present an...
I have a nice custom built 416 style off highway trailer - well fitted out - that I enjoy a lot.
But I have entertained thoughts of a smaller Airstream on and off for years, and finally pulled the trigger on a 24' Airstream Argosy tandem axle trailer. I intend to fit it out for extended...
That is an awesome trailer. I like the galvanized frame, the suspension, etc. But my 24' Airstream weighs just 1300 pounds more than this one does - and it has a flush toilet, range, three way fridge, and a shower.
I am sure Martyn and Mario can do better.:sombrero:

Yes, it is. The only way to make a true deep draw is to use large, thick plates. The bigger and heavier the battery, the more AHs and the higher the price.
Marine batteries are made to take a beating. Solar and other pure storage batteries are made for stationary applications.
I think a...
Thanks. I have a sat phone - hand held - so I have to go outside to use it.
The VOIP phone is obvious - I could just move my Vonage box into the trailer once I get a sat Internet hook up. I will explore the Skycaster site.

There are a number of 6V deep cycle marine batteries available - well beyond 500 AH - big at a cost and too much weight. Here is a source for Surrette's reliable marine batteries... go to section D of the spec table the battery is a 410 AH 6V. I will find the other one 425 AH - it's in my...
I am setting up a 24' Airstream trailer as a support vehicle for multiple purposes. I want to have a mobile office capability built-in. Since I spend a couple months a year in off-grid, uncivilized places (no 802.11 or cell service) I would like a permanent sat phone aerial for my existing...
I think you should find out how many times you can safely discharge your current batteries before they are dead - unable to hold a charge any longer. Most starting batteries cannot be deeply discharged and survive. Combination starting/deep draw batteries have limitations - usually 200 to 300...
Gary and Monika are in Baja and I do not know when they will be back. Gary showed me the Turtle in detail the last time I visited them. It is an awesome vehicle. I expect that any replication would be a one-off custom build, but I can't figure how you build a business around it. But then, Gary...
Talking to a friend Tuesday - he is a GM dealer - and he told me that the new 4.5L GM common-rail turbodiesel will be available in half ton trucks and some SUVs later in the 2009 model year - Spring '09. It will have an (optional?) 6 speed transmission, but NOT the Allison. He will provide me...
