    Favorite lenses?

Dave - the 24/f2 lens is very pricey - still in production on special order, and over $1100!!. I bought mine used, in good condition, at Keeble and Schucat in Palo Alto, but it was still expensive over $500 I think. I do love it, though.

    Favorite lenses?

I hope some of you will share your thoughts on the lenses you use, how you like them, and why. I have all Nikon 53mm gear, and, while I use the medium and longer lenses a lot, my best lens is a manual focus 24mm f2.0 Nikkor. Hard to take a bad phot with this lens, and it is both sharp and...

    Landcruiser Expedition Model Toy

I contacted the manufacturer in Germany, and asked to buy several dozen. They are not currently in production, but I thought they would make nice gifts for friends of the company and special customers. We'll see if they actually build some. Mike

    Random dog shots

Thank you, Dave. It was a lot of fun. After scanning and tweaking a couple boxes of slides (not to mention paying fo film and processing) I have to admit that I am thinking about a D200 digital. I love the F4 and my old F2, tho'. Mike

Any info or ID on this tent?

We're working on an excellent solution. Not ready quite yet. You should make the trip. Nice people, and you can see the modern factory, and how they build the tents before ordering. Last time I was there the town was celebrating "1000 years of cheese". The food in Italy is to die...

Roof Top Tent Ladder Question - Sand

A mat or square of Astroturf works pretty well. You can also carry a piece of 3/4" plywood - whch doubles as support for the jack base if needed. The plywood works better M

Any info or ID on this tent?

You're in Italy? Why would you pay to freight a Chinese tent from the US?? Call AutoHome, Italy and talk to them - at least you'll get a tent backed by warranty, spare parts - and with no duties or freight to pay. The factory is in Montova... PM me for contact info.

    need some constant power...

I am a great belever in marine 12V products/systems philosophy for our exp vehicles. The problem with neg ground run backs to a battery or neg post is that you will have to run TWO wires, and the potential for abrasion on a critical wire is 2X the single wire risk. Additionally, a problem can...

    cooking stuff...

My goal for camp cooking has always been to have - to the extent possible - a serviceable kitch that can turn out meals much the same as I would do at home. I have never found a cook kit that is as useable as regular kitchen ware. I Bought a non stick cooking set from Costco for $149 and rmoved...

    need some constant power...

The short version --- If you just need a constant 'ON' power supply, mount the 12V oulet, then select wire size one size larger than required for max load (amperage draw) and run (distant from the power source). The ground does not need to run back to the battery - it can be grounded to the...

    Relays and wiring

Usually they will come with wiring, instructions, and a quality relay. There are several ways to set up your Hellas. Driving lights are often set up so that they only operate when the headlights are on, and set to high beam. They way, if you dip you lights, the driving lights go out. It is...

    Electrical (better crimps?)

Blue Sea ACR I had a BlueSea ACR in my previous 'cruiser (FJ60). I installed it to manage two Optima YT group 31 batts. Worked very well, and no voltage drop. It takes very lttle power to run, and is supplied with a MANUAL ON - AUTO - MANUAL OFF dash switch lead to combine or isolate manually -...

Or just pull the plug wires, foot off the throttle, and wind the starter a second or two. Then reconnect and start.
