    All Terrian Tires

My partner has P metric Revos on his 4X4 (exotic Italian ride) and they have not lasted well at all. My LT Revos look new after 20,000 miles, and came with a 50K mile warranty. So far, I am delighted, tho' I would like to have an extra set of steel wheels with tall, narrow Toyo M55s for the 80...

    The 'Melon!

Henry, Glad to see that you are back in the game. But IFS? Maybe the age of the 100 series is here, and I need to dump my 80? Mike

    All Terrian Tires

Bridgestone Revos I have been running Bridgestone Revos (275/85/R16) on my 80 for the last 20,000 miles. The highway performance is excellent - as good as the Michelin Cross Terrain tires on my other truck. They are quiet and smooth. Off highway, they have done well in everything except deep...

    Chile Rellenos...

I use the gas grill, then pop them into a zip lock bag for 20 minutes or so. They will peel pretty easily - just brown them dark without burning them... they're be useless if charred.

    Rooftop tents and canoes?

Here is a LR with OverCamp and kayaks. This solution works very well. The OverCamp is also available in Medium - on special order - a bigger version that takes up somewhat more rack space.

    Electrical (better crimps?)

Marine wire is tinned copper with superior multi-layer covering and a good place to start. Buy marine connectors and fittings as well. There are different types of heat shrink tubing - the best is made with an interior adhesive that melts and bonds to the understrate material - stronger than...

    Chile Rellenos...

I have several ambitious NM Green and poblano chile bushes in the garden and want to try new ways of making rellenos with fresh chiles. Plain jack cheese is good but the chukar recipe that Dan mentioned sounds great, and I am thinking of some some stuffed with pulled pork (carnitas style)...

    tent installation discussion

Personally, I like a tet that can be entered from the side of the vehicle - either side. There is no reason that this configuration should be any less stable than other options. Mounting to open to front or back means that you loose use of the space under the erect tent (front mount) or may...

    Rooftop tents and canoes?

Graham I have had an 18" cedar strip canoe for over 25 years, and traveled all over with it on a number of vehicles - from a Buick Regal turbo to a Ford F250 to a number of Landcruisers. Made probably 75 to 80 mph with the boat on the rack. I have never had a problem such as your friend...

    Rooftop tents and canoes?

Graham has touched on an important consideration - dynamic weight limitations. If you set that consdieration aside, there are a couple options from AutoHome that can work for you. 1. As Graham noted, an OverCamp tent will only use about 25" of rack space. This is a stout little tent, easily...

    Mattress Options

This is not the case. These mattresses are spec'd for occupant weight up to and over 200 lbs., insulative properties, and for long term durability. Cost as a consideration is way down the list. As I posted above, the fold over design of any classic fabric roof top tent limits the thickness of...

    Mattress Options

In a fold over tent, the mattress is a major limiting factor in getting a compact packge. In my OverLand, I simply put a feather bed over the mattress, and sleep under a quilt. This provides more cushion, but a lot more sleeping warmth. But I am only 175 lbs. so, while this is great for me, it...
