All Terrian Tires

Looking for a good all terrian tire. Something other than a BFG AT, I have run those for years, want to try something different.

I have Goodyear MTR's on there now. Love the performance, hate the short life span.

Take a close look at the Yokohama Geolandar AT

I really like them. I ran a set on my truck until I went up to a 33" 9.50 and they no longer had a size that I could use. Their price is very attractive. The tread design is deceptively aggressive. Plan on a little more noise than the BFG AT. Not nearly as much as the MTR. Pretty quiet actually.
They wear a little funny at first sometimes. Make sure you rotate them regularly to eliminate this.

If you don't like the life of the MTR, you will not like the STT. The Coopers don't last as long as the Goodyears.

I would still be running the Geolandars if they had my tire size. I am running them out on my shop truck. They are just about gone now. They do not last as long as a BFG AT, but probably a third to twice as long as a set of MTRs. That is excellent considering they are 25% less than the cost of the MTR and 10% less than the BFG AT.

The tread design is really cool. A Baja designed multi purpose tread. They are good in mud , rock and sand. Not as good in snow as the MTR or BFG AT. No terrible, but a little slick at times.

Bridgestone Revos

I have been running Bridgestone Revos (275/85/R16) on my 80 for the last 20,000 miles. The highway performance is excellent - as good as the Michelin Cross Terrain tires on my other truck. They are quiet and smooth.

Off highway, they have done well in everything except deep mud. Not as good as a dedicated OR tire like the MTR, but good.

I'm running Nitto Terra's and love them, I have had 3 sets of BFG AT's and well no more BFG AT's for me. I also have a set of the Cooper STT's. Those are great too. I use the Nitto's for everything other than offroad trips, the coopers come out when the roof tent goes on.

I have some Revos and I have been generally happy with them. They just haven't lasted that long for me, I currently have about 30K on them and they are looking long in the tooth. They work great on the highway and super in the sand and wet roads, I actually got them for the rainy season in Pensacola. They just don't really look the part though and that does bug me a little. Would I get another pair? I don't know, they did cost more than the BFG AT's and then there is the wear problem. In their defense, I do have P metric and not LT's so I don't know if that makes a difference. I am having a hard time deciding on what to get and that time is comming up fast. I like the Coopers but there is the wear issues. I like the Toyo's but they don't make them in a 235/85/16 and they are expensive. So what else is there?

The Cooper S/T-C looks interesting. Too bad, the only way to see if I like them, is drive on a set.

So does the Yokohoma Geolander.

My partner has P metric Revos on his 4X4 (exotic Italian ride) and they have not lasted well at all. My LT Revos look new after 20,000 miles, and came with a 50K mile warranty. So far, I am delighted, tho' I would like to have an extra set of steel wheels with tall, narrow Toyo M55s for the 80.

On my second set of ******** Cepek Fun Counrty IIs, got 44,000 miles on the first set and will get probably another 5000 miles out of them before they're wore out. Really out preform the BFG Ats I use to run, and have been an all around good tire. In photo, old srt on right, new set on left.

Is that a typo? Did you mean to type 275/75R16?

I'm not aware of a 275/85?

The "C" is Chip resistance. It , as I understand it, is a softer compound that resists chipping in sharp rock, or gravel. They should not last as long as the ST.
I will not use the ST again. Coopers cases had a flaw. The seam where the casing meets was porous at the bead. They would slowly lose air. I found four out of eight new tires with this flaw.
They were not the size listed in the recall, but had the very same problem and were factory recalled as well. You can check the recall list for all those that use the same cases. I know Cooper, Mastercraft, Dean and more were included.
I upgraded to the STTs. They did not wear long enough to be considered again.
