Thanks for the compliments on the MR2! It's a year into an engine swap that required a fair bit of welding and nearly half way finished overall.
Well, as I was starting to reinstall the headliner and fiddling around with some insulation, I realized I needed to upholster the sun shade on the...
Was a little limited with color options for the all in one type of foam backed head liner fabric. My MR2 has a more custom approach to the interior. I need to finish that project this year as I miss driving around in that car.

Does anyone have any guidance or experience with an auxiliary fuel tank on a gen 2.5? Also curious if any here have put in a permanent water tank for either drinking water or gray water (non drinking water) under the body?
I'm also looking to build a roof rack for the car and am now searching...
Replacement for lights came in tonight and they also received a yellow tint to add contrast against snow. To those who aren't familiar with yellow lights- the term is called 'frenching' lights. The tint is a self adhesive variety I found on Amazon with a few stars and was quite affordable. I...
Not as much progress today as I decided to remove the oem roof rack while I had easy access. Had a bear of a time with the nutserts and seized bolts. After fiddling with an impact driver and trying to hold the free spinning nutsert with a vice clamp- I ultimately opted for a drill and began...
I historically have had the same philosophy, but the price was fairly good deal and for this build I really wanted something a little rough that I can put some sweaty equity in to keep costs down. That way I can build up the interior out how I'd like. That said, this was the only gen 2.5 I've...
Made a little more progress today. Rest of the interior (sans dash and door cards) are out. Ripped off old headliner and glued down the new material. You will need 3 yards of 70" wide headliner at the very least.
Here are a few pictures for the moment. Will add more this weekend.

Thanks! I'll take you up on that offer!
Good to know - going to see what new carpet and headliner do for the smell first. The seats will need attention too, but I'm not sure of the plan there just yet.

The yellow tint is a term often referred to as 'frenching' and is just a tint applied to some OEM light housings. We opted for some fairly cheap self adhesive tint from Amazon as I recall- just something with a few good reviews as I recall. We also opted for an LED light for the fog light. It...
Upon returning home, started assessing the interior and formulating something resembling a plan...
The wife and I quickly concluded that drastic action was needed... Seats up front are pretty much shot, and the middle row isn't in great shape either. We are working out some sort of a plan...
Well - I took my wife's advice and drove off the deep end and bought a second Montero. This time it's a two tone red/gray 2000 Montero Endeavor. Some of you may recognize my other build thread for a tan Gen 3: Modest 2002 Montero Build.
This project will be in stages over the next year or two...
To my knowledge this is a factory replacement part. I believe Mitsubishi just updated the design for that part. The old part was really corroded inside and would eventually fail from the looks of things.

Been enjoying the Montero for the most part, but wear and tear is taking is toll on the vehicle.
Parts broken over the last summer:
-Front left CV joint
-Inner and outer tire rods on the passenger side
-Skid plate mount up front (worn threads won't retain bolts to hold the skid plate...
In Wyoming for the eclipse this last weekend. Car did admirably, but need an actual cabin filter and I now have to replace a cv joint which is starting to click when turning and backing up.
Just did the brakes on our Gen 3 and went with a slotted brake rotor. I do have minor concerns with the slots loading up with mud/dirt should I do any water crossings, but the benefits are there with regards to keeping the pads fresh. At least that is my personal experience with slotted rotors...
Those sizes will certainly fit on the wheels themselves, but an unsure if they will for on the car. I think with the trimming I did and a +10 offset you should be ok fitment wise. A lift kit will certainly help fitment wise.
